  • Senate square was formed in the year 1704 near the building of the Senate and Synod. That's where it got its name later. It is considered one of the oldest areas of St. Petersburg. In year 1923 was renamed Decembrists square, and in 2008 year returned its name. No long had the name Isaac. In 1782, was a monument to Peter the great was renamed area. Hence, Petrov, who wore this name until 1820 year.
