Famous for its gold-plated dome, Saint Isaac's Cathedral features an observation deck offering arguably the finest views of the city. Built during the first four decades of the 19th century, the cathedral remains one of the largest Orthodox edifices in the world, its golden cupola dominating the city's skyline from a height of over 101 m (333 ft). Designated as a museum during the 1930s, the lavish interior features highly decorated granite and marble columns and pilasters. Pay special attention to the main iconostasis, framed by eight ornate columns of semiprecious malachite and lazurite stone. To reach the observation deck, climb the staircase winding its way around the drum of the dome. • The cathedral is very beautiful, it is huge and they have some nice frescos and paintings. I would not call it a Museum but it is definitely worth a visit.

  • Truly loved the place. Especially will be interesting for those who is interested in antic and real (alternative) history. Cathedral was built by antic civilization before flood. You should read...

  • Beautiful and colorful cathedral. If you have the opportunity to go on the roof don't hesitate, the climb of stairs is worth it. The sight is nice. It's good opportunity to get cool pictures even though it can get really crowded up there. The stairs closes at 17h30, you can then enjoy 30mn with almost no one on the roof!
  • One of the most beautiful cathedrals ever. You can visit the museum which is the interior of the cathedral or simply climb up the stairs to the top and enjoy a 360 view of Peter. We did both and we loved it. A must if you visit the city
  • St. Isaac's Cathedral is a large architectural landmark cathedral that now functions as a museum with church services in Saint Petersburg, Russia. it was the first place I visited in Russia and I loved how outstanding it looked at the moment. specially having that amazing sky and clouds behind it. at the moment we arrived, the was a marriage ceremony taking place there at the cathedral yard and everything was shiny. I suggest to visit it for sure :)
  • Beautiful and impressive orthodox church in the center of Saint Petersburg. Definitely worth a visit, not only for religious people. You need to buy tickets to get in. The counter is located next to the church. There are two categories of tickets, one for the main hall/ground floor (called museum) and one for the upper floors/roof (called galeria). Both categories were 350 ₽ (~4 €) when visiting in Feb. 2021. You can also get guided tours.
  • Probably one of the most beautiful cathedrals I have been to if not the most beautiful. I was awestruck by the art work and the upkeep. I have traveled all over the world and I would recommend you do not give this wonder a miss.
