4.7/5 based on 320+ reviews on the web
With its gold-domed roofs and gilded interior, it's hard to say whether Nicholas Naval Cathedral of The Epiphany is more ornate inside or out. The Baroque Russian Orthodox cathedral has always been intimately associated with the Russian Navy, as evidenced by the upper church's memorial plaques for crews of sunken Soviet marines. Built on the bank of the Kryukov Canal from 1753 to 1762, the massive cathedral can accommodate up to 5,000 people. Consider attending a mass to see it in all its glory. You can appreciate the cathedral's exterior from a boat cruise along the canal, or from the viewpoint of the bell tower. • Almost any film about St. Petersburg you can see this place, here is beautiful at any time of the year, the Cathedral, the creation of the great Russian architect Ivan Ivanovich Shuvalov, fits perfectly into the surrounding Wednesday and is reflected in the waters of the channel. In the Cathedral itself is incredibly cozy, I want to stay here a bit longer and consider each icon, so much so that the Cathedral has never closed, neither the years nor the persecution of the Church during the harsh years of the siege of Leningrad
