Nicholas-Epiphany Naval Cathedral, St. Petersburg

(4.8/5 based on 340+ reviews on the web)
With its gold-domed roofs and gilded interior, it's hard to say whether Nicholas-Epiphany Naval Cathedral is more ornate inside or out. The Baroque Russian Orthodox cathedral has always been intimately associated with the Russian Navy, as evidenced by the upper church's memorial plaques for crews of sunken Soviet marines. Built on the bank of the Kryukov Canal from 1753 to 1762, the massive cathedral can accommodate up to 5,000 people. Consider attending a mass to see it in all its glory. You can appreciate the cathedral's exterior from a boat cruise along the canal, or from the viewpoint of the bell tower. • Somewhat, therefore not so many tourists. In the church because the worship no photography possible, seen the typical Russian women with her headscarf. Around shady Park, good to relax and energy recharge.

  • If you're in this place, only in sunny weather, you have obtained such pictures that all obzavidujutsja. An incredible combination of water channel, light blue Cathedral, gold crosses and the Sun, you'll be impressed. Getting there not just from Metro Garden by tram or on foot, you can on a boat on the water (but see only water.) If you walk, walk, this place is incredibly quiet, there's little people and you can find peace of mind. you can go to the Cathedral of course does not make noise because the current Cathedral and there come the believers. Admission is free.
