New Holland, St. Petersburg

3.9
New Holland is a remarkable landmark in St Petersburg, contemporary to the city, which was created in the 18 century by russian tzar Peter the Great as the main gate to Western civilization.

From the moment of its founding, New Holland has been under naval control and used for maintenance of the Russian fleet. At the turn of the twenty-first century, the island has been given over to the city, launching a new chapter in its history.

Two key goals for the developers of the New Holland Island project are to restore and renovate the historic architectural ensemble on the island, as well as to create a unique mixed-use facility that will become a central part of the lives of city residents.

  • Great place to work. Everyone was sensible, aesthetically, it is logical. I am very glad that this place has finally gained a second life. I dreamed about this since the day she saw the arch. Very nice and go and visit stores and sit in a cafe/restaurant. There are a lot of them, to any taste. Excellent playground with razvivalkami.

  • unexpectedly opened this place, renovated under the recreation and entertainment island of New Holland. Beautiful, spacious, unusual. Especially, it seems to me, is good here mothers with children.

  • Surprising "bluing" St. Petersburg "-give this tidbit in the heart of the city, the Park! In Moscow it would umestili three-four "chelovejnika" apartments! But as grateful to the authorities in St. Petersburg, thousands of townspeople and visitors who come to the New Holland-here you can literally all-sitting and even lying on the grass, on the same play and snacking, sleeping and English free of charge to teachers. Perfectly organized children's leisure and catering to different purses! Easy access from different parts of the city. New Holland-place, maybe not "excursion", but very interesting and attractive for recreation.

  • I think it's one of the best places in the city, especially during the summer. What makes it so great is that you can lay on the grass everywhere!!! People of any age and interest can seek an entertainment on the New Holland island from simply reading a book to playing petank, from eating ice cream to having a delicious dinner, from listening to a lecture on art to enjoying your favorite band gig. There is this enourmous ship playground for kids with I wish was open to young adults too, cause it's so cool. And just vibes of this whole place takes you somewhere away. Thank you for the magic.x
  • A place with a contradictory history. On the one hand - great idea to create a really working modern safe public space in the best urbanists sense, that partly works: there are great public lectures, events, happenings etc. But on another hand - is it really an open freely accessible space? Gates in the entrance, no liquids with you, no food, doesn't it turn the focuse on the commertial component? Is it possible to a homeless to enter the park? Besides the original idea this place segregates people and so that it is really a successfull hipster and bobo's place, but don't think that for everyone. As a creative spase for accessible publics it works great, by the way, and the team really dose a professional work, respect.
  • Awesome place to go for a walk in the night. With the nice area for promenade and a couple of places to warm up (I mean cafes). Info desk works properly as well.
  • Opening day was good and staff very supportive and friendly. Hope the same is maintained throughout. Issue with providing right size of skates is experienced, a solution provided regarding this would be great
  • It would be great to walk here in summer time with a girlfriend. New Holland is very new and beautiful place with expensive stalls around here. The only entertainment in winter is the Ice Rink.
