  • Lovely, photogenic House on the corner of Foundry Avenue and Kirochnoj, the former in Soviet times, saltykov-Schedrin Street, appeared at this place in the end of 19-th century and it was built by the order of the last Russian Emperor, especially for officers ' meeting. Up to that moment was here first admitting the terrible and faithful throne of count Arakcheyev, and later his Imperial Majesty's own Chancellery. As for the Officers of the meeting, then it is, generally speaking, a semblance of the officer's Club. Male, of course, but a decent:) Military affiliation of the building survived and after the revolution, when settled House officers. This House was used differently: in the 50-IES of the twentieth century there were trials "Leningrad case"; later the House became friendlier and provided citizens with "cultural services", among which the lecture society "knowledge" and foreign language courses. As far as I know, now in the House of officers is the Museum of the history of troops of the Leningrad military district, as well as veterans ' organizations.
