  • Compared to other palaces (later) Menshikov looks historic, however, it is necessary to give a discount on construction time and compare, rather, with the House of Peter the great in the summer garden, then, probably, admiration. Yes and the ticket costs just 300 rubles. On the other hand, what the interiors of the Palace are not like other, cool, because you notice the difference in the time epochs and unusual trivia, not typical of the rest of the houses-museums. For example, a huge Valley or zban kitchen refrigerator vessel, the carpet on the dining table, narrow communicating rooms (bedrooms), fancy shutters on the Windows and so on. We were in the Palace at 5:00 pm in Sunday, and we were not offered nor the audio guide, nor the tour, Museum staff very actively were going home, the closer was time to 18, that wasn't very nice (operating time up to 18 only on Wednesday and Friday to 21 and Monday is a holiday). In the sixth floor even began to overlap some room. Lubricates the impression I must say.

  • One of the most interesting buildings, for my taste, in St. Petersburg! Externally the Palace undoubtedly petrovskoe Baroque, attic with a broken roof, decorated facades, two-tone colouring, pediments, entrance. But inside-low openings of doors, multi-unit thick shutters. Feeling as if one tried to shove the Palace and an ordinary apartment building. And it happened, Yes! Ceremonial Hall shines in all magnificence and striking open spaces, amazing huge Tapestry for arches, tiled stoves in residential areas, the ceiling and walls. And around dark, low premises, passages, stairs. Show recreated kitchen, you can see how hard it had simple people serve the Lords. There is a collection of portable stoves-prototype of modern radiators-brought, stoked and carried away. Now the Palace of delights is not a particularly large number of compositions and rooms. Do not expect from him the luxury of Winter or the Catherine Palace, Peterhof, this is really the first Palace, with all the consequences that a simpler, less rich. And restore it started not so long ago. But for comparison are definitely worth a visit!
