Kronstadt, St. Petersburg

#3 of 6 in Nature in St. Petersburg
Explore the base of the Russian admiralty on your visit to Kronstadt, the city's primary seaport and once the site of a major rebellion. In March of 1921, the soldiers, navy officers, and sailors--along with their civilian supporters--led a rebellion against the local Bolshevik government, demanding freedom of speech and the end of deportation camps. Founded by Peter the Great, the military town was an important training center for the Soviet Navy during World War II, and features many fortresses that protected St. Petersburg and its vital shipping routes, although it was bombed several times by German forces during World War II. This municipality was of such importance to the Russian military that it was closed to the public until 1996. Visit the cathedral and palace, take a boat tour around the harbor fortresses, and visit the museum detailing the history of the area. The town is easily accessible via boat or the local bus service. With our world travel planner, St. Petersburg attractions like Kronstadt can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

Crown City on the island of Kotlin and its fortress is very nice to look at also by ship. The island can be reached via a Causeway from St. Petersburg.

Got on the bus for 40 rubles from the Metro station "Staraya Derevnya", go to 1:00. A lot of people, so hurry up back into the bus and take place, pay when you exit before you travel destination. Of the attractions is the Cathedral, as well as the Fort itself post where there are ships and the lighthouse. At the entrance to the city very beautiful landscapes, so don't oversleep, many beautiful islands. City examined ourselves, unfortunately the entrance to the lighthouse was closed (rehearsal before the feast of 29 July). But that did not stop enjoy the beauty of the city, to see the ships. In the city there are pointers, they easily orientrirovatsja, there is a museum. If you have some free time-be sure to come here on foot, even enjoyed looking at this amazing, albeit a small town.
