  • Surprisingly well-preserved Cathedral, on the corner of Grand Avenue and 6-th line of vasilievsky island in St Petersburg. Knowing the history of the temples in 30-40-IES is really amazing-inside the preserved authentic iconostasis 17 century. The people of the place is popular-people come in and out constantly. Not so long ago on the feast of St. Andrew service here was led by Metropolitan of St Petersburg. Here is good.

  • The Church was founded and built (wooden) in the first half of the eighteenth century; in 1744 he received the status of a cathedral; in the year 1761-burned (lightning), and in 1764 began construction of a stone Cathedral. After a couple of years struck the dome in 1781 year construction was completed and the Cathedral was consecrated. The badge of the order of St. Andrew, supported by cherubs, which placed over doors, recalled that, since 1897 year Cathedral became a Chevalier of the order of the Cathedral of the Holy Apostle Andrew and was going to the order's chapter. Bust the first Cavalier of Admiral F.a. Golovnin, set near the Cathedral, also reminds about this. From 1938 to early 1990 's, the Cathedral was closed, there was no service. Now the Cathedral is popular, it pretty much constantly and parishioners and tourists. He enters the temple complex, which also includes Three Hierarchs of the Ecumenical Church (built in 1740-1745) and the chapel of Holy Grand Prince Vladimir (2001). The time of the visit depends on the goals of half an hour "just look" to several hours-to pray, to listen service.

  • The Cathedral is a magnificent, beautiful, and it has been seen that is very popular among the residents. We liked it too. There is a small park where you can take a walk or go to another shrine, located next door. On the other side of the Cathedral you can see the monument to f. Golovin and the first holder of the order of St. Andrew.
