Botanical Garden appreciate primarily as a Museum of living plants in the open air, where you can see such flowers, herbs and trees, of which only books read and see never seen before. As a place for walks-also good, but just walk and free parks can be equally well. And of course, the Botanical Garden is much, much, very much alive. The site includes a calendar of flowering garden, which can be compared to select the best time to visit. The other day were the botanical to admire the blooming water lilies-this can be done at a special "water" tours. It takes place in the viktornoj Conservatory, which collected a variety of waterlilies, lotuses, and other aquatic plants, from sugar cane to Papyrus. The Orangerie is small, so the tour is complemented by some tropical halls (plants of mangrove swamps and palm trees) and a piece of the park under the open sky. In General, it was very educational and interesting pictures of water lilies were gorgeous, and the only thing a little sorry-that you can walk only with greenhouses as a guide, and you cannot wander-enjoy yourself. Organizational issues: paying for the trip, can be before or after any walk in the park itself; in greenhouses, especially in viktornoj, very humid and hot. Also consider that, water excursion is only possible in the summer.

Botanical Gardens in St. Petersburg consider a must-visit if you live in the city or are so long that they managed to get around here. Once was at the edge of the physic garden city, then walked only dachas. Now it is only a short distance from the city centre) If you expect something supernatural, something likely to be disappointed. Botanical Garden-it's a nice cozy Park. Depending on the season you can see the blossoming peonies, roses, lilies. Very cute Japanese House, but you can get there only with a guided tour. Excursions in the Botanic Garden in greenhouses: subtropical, tropical and water. I liked the subtropics and water Conservatory. By the way, if you plan to visit the greenhouses, the entrance ticket to the Park to buy is not necessary. So plan what you want to see. In the Tuesday and Friday pensioners entrance to the Park is free)))

There is a good range of northern trees and various lilies etc however the place is generally fairly run down with muddy walkways and buildings in varying stages of decay. Pleasant area of town  more »

  • Liked this one so much! I was fully impressed with subtropical exhibition. I was walking with open mouth and smile from the first hall to the last. But citrus part was my favorite one. Can't wait to visit tropical part.
