  • On the Bank of the Volga River stands the majestic Cathedral of the Transfiguration. Its bell tower is visible from almost any point of the city. The Cathedral was built in 1838-1851 Gg. by means of rybinskih merchants Vâz′mina, i. M. Miklûtina, L.p. Kuvshynnykova, a.d. Smirnova. In 1846, the Church was painted by palehskih masters led by contractor-peasant n. l. Safonov. In addition, this same wall painting by written 40 icons for the iconostasis. Domes and stucco cornices fulfilled SERF peasant sculptor Petar Antonov, ornaments-Yaroslavl painter Ivan Lotošilov. In 1847-1852 Gg. citizen of Rostov, A.m. Byčkovym, the Carver made iconostasis of the main temple and two pridel′nyh. The Cathedral was consecrated on June 26, 1851.
