Mountain Nature / Park
Explore the source of marble used in some of the most significant buildings in the city, such as St. Isaac's Cathedral, the floors of the Kazan Cathedral, and the window sills of the Hermitage at Ruskeala Mountain Park. This park features a viewing platform showcasing panoramic views and a walking trail leading to the former marble quarry, now filled with water. Rent a boat and sail around the lake or sit on the benches scattered throughout the park. Many parts of the trail can get slippery because of the water, so watch your footing and be mindful of young children. • Mountain Park is always worth a visit ruskeala that thirty kilometers north of the town of Sortavala. His base-Marble Canyon, a unique object of nature, included in the UNESCO list of cultural heritage of Russia. In addition, it is also a monument to the industrial history of the four peoples: karelov, Swedes, Russians, and Finns. Exclusive beauty place! For tourists there are equipped with pedestrian route around the former marble mine. At the bottom, on a water smooth surface you can go rowing. Looking for extreme can add yourself an adrenaline, "fly" on a tightrope above the Canyon. Very impressive cut vertically marble mountains. There are no mineral extraction from Soviet times, when leaving the Park, a few miles South, left on a course of movement, is a cozy place with Flamingo Grand Banks Tohmajoki, small picturesque waterfalls and nice fans. Take the time, wrap here. And you will not regret the decision. Here you can relax, enjoy nature, the beauty of these places, photographing. Not by chance the famous filmmaker chose them for filming episodes of well-known film "the dawns here are quiet. The local population and renamed falls: "Quiet dawn".

  • The road to this place by car I remembered more than the park itself. A typical place for mass tourists, which brought on the bus unloaded the Group held the handle along the naveshav type of local goods, honey and jams, souvenirs, etc. Bypass the Park occupies a maximum of an hour ahead of you people behind the following deadlines are approaching. The feeling on both tours in the Museum come to the lookout, photographed and further on the trail. Types of beautiful, no doubt, but go for the sake of this 300 km is not worth it, not less of emotions can get in the Park City
