Underpass art, Rostov-on-Don

(4.6/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web)
For a fleeting spot of color in your walk around Rostov-on-Don, check out the tiled mosaics of Underpass art as you cross under the area's main road. Created during the post-World War II Soviet era, this series of underpasses explore the positive aspects of Russian life in bold colors and forms, representing an idealized view of the Soviet state. Witness scenes of agricultural workers, forgers and welders, as well as large-scale depictions of World War II battles, complete with weaponry, tanks, flags, and explosions. Try to keep moving as you look at the art, as the underpasses are busy thoroughfares and it can be difficult and obstructive to stop. • Long destiny of this mosaic, it wanted to remove completely after the restoration of the underpass to Voroshilov, but the question became acute and decided to partially leave in modern processing of pedestrian. Looks very nice.

  • Mosaics in underground passages at Voroshilov and Budennovsk's prospectuses were made in 70-ies of the last century. On the urban legend made they were married couple and all "born in the USSR" evoke nostalgia for childhood, between ball, hopes ...

  • Rostovskie transitions always are allocated their own unique mosaics on the walls, especially in the times of the Soviet Union. The revival of the lost can raise the rating of the city authorities.
