Originally on the site of the Arsenal was "Pavilion" Monbizhu "", built in 1747-1750-ies. S.i. project Commander-in-chief and F.b. Rastrelli. It was one of the best gardens, Baroque buildings created in the same style with a Pavilion "Hermitage", located in the Catherine Park, but on the same axis with the "Monbizhu". In the mid-18th century "Monbizhu" also called the hunting pavilion, as it was located in the so-called Zoo, whose territory was used for the keeping of animals in the wild and as hunting grounds. Gradually Menagerie came to desolation, and the Pavilion became dilapidated. In 1817-1834 Gg. A. Adam Menelaws built the "Monbizhu", turning it into a building in neo-Gothic style with four towers, topped by a toothed parapet. Interiors created by architect A.a. Tone. Pavilion impressed the contemporaries did not so much internal furniture, how many submitted in his offices by the Assembly of the Western European and Eastern arms of Nicholas I, the best of which was located in Central vosmiugolnom "Hall of Knights". At the behest of the Emperor's Pavilion was dubbed "arsenal". In 1885-1886 Gg. Alexander III sent his unique collection of his case to the Imperial Hermitage, where she is now partially exhibited in the Knights ' Hall and at other expositions. During the World War II Arsenal suffered significant destruction. In a dilapidated state prior to the restoration works in September 2014, reconstruction ended in December 2015, Arsenal now open to all visitors.

Very glad that I visited again in the Alexander Park and saw the refurbished Pavilion Arsenal. Interesting, curious. Even my 11 year old granddaughter enjoyed seen different ancient weapons. From the Windows of the second floor very beautiful tracks of the Park.

  • Beautiful gardens, open early in the morning and free to visit. It's a good idea to arrive in Pushkin early and visit this park before heading to the main exhibit for Catherine's Palace, the area was almost empty when we walked around which made a lovely start to the day! The squirrels are also very tame and locals will feed them nuts straight out of their hands!
  • Nice place to visit. Toilet not comfortable, expensive tickets and it's far.
  • a gigantic park in a forgotten city. if you come to visit Saint Petersburg, you must visit Pushkin to!
  • Nice nearly wild park to walk or cycle.
  • Парк огонь!
