The Marly Palace, Peterhof

(380+ reviews on the web)
Historic Site
Created as a private retreat for Peter the Great, The Marly Palace was inspired by the royal hunting lodges the emperor admired while traveling in France. Peter considered this palace-garden complex his "Russian Versailles," creating an intimate sanctuary within the vast grounds for his personal pleasure. He used the palace and the surrounding gardens for only two years before his death, and the quiet retreat eventually became a storage space for his furniture, art, clothing, and official gifts. Today, the thoroughly reconstructed site provides a peek at the days when Peter enjoyed the serenity of his tranquil sanctuary. Check online for visiting hours and tour options. • It is located in the lower Park of Petrodvorets. Near the Palace there is a pond, where previously provided fish to the Tsar's table. Now there issuing fishing rods for hire and to our surprise, there are those who wish to fish, and pretty much wanting.

  • When you put the channel from l Pier and in the direction of the Palace at half way turn you left and after prus that alley, inside it you arrive in this lovely place. Marly is really highlighted by the basin which is in front of the building and the lovely fountain that is to his left. To be walked up to Marly, worth a visit.

  • Near beautiful geometrically correct pond stands a small house-call it a Palace after all the palaces of St. Petersburg language is not rotated. The most beautiful location in it-before the stitch on the right side of the pond, tall shaft (on top of the stunning views of the Bay and city), left, fountains, small zatony around it, where you can fish. A great place to stroll and photo.
