The Bath Block, Peterhof

4.7
Experience all the opulence of the royal family's everyday life at The Bath Block. Located in the lower park of the complex, the bathhouse was the place where the emperors and the empresses would retreat from their stately duties to enjoy various relaxation treatments. The original wood bathing house of Peter the Great underwent serious remodeling for the Empress Maria Alexandrovna, who enjoyed her therapeutic treatments and walks in the nearby Chinese Garden. Even though the structure was severely damaged during World War II, it's now completely restored to its former glory. See bathing pools, fountains, and saunas worthy of a king. As with many other parts of Peterhof, taking pictures and videos is prohibited and tickets must be purchased separately from the other areas of the palace. • Fabulous fountains and gardens at the Peterhof State Museum. First class, with lots of gold guilding! You will be amazed at the extent and beauty of the fountains. We were on a 2 day cruise ship...  more »
  • The best place to view this group of fountains is from above, that is, from the front of the Peterhof Palace. The overall effect is spectacular.  more »

  • Photos were not allowed inside but this Bath House of Peter the Great's tragic wife is very interesting and houses the most ornate shower head fixture we had ever seen. The gardens contain beautiful species of flowers, some not endemic to Russia - ask your guide about the story behind those poppy flowers!
  • I enjoyed touring the Catherine Wing (Екатерининский корпус), Bathhouse Wing (Банный корпус), and Monplezir (Монплезир) more than Peterhof Palace. Why? because this is where they lived, so you get an idea of their lifestyle. Anyone touring these, should also take time to relax next to the Wheatsheaf Fountain. Wheelchair users: You should also always call ahead to find out if there is wheelchair access to bars, clubs, museums, and restaurants. In most cases the answer, sadly, will be in the negative. Alternatively, assume it is inaccessible and hire a few people to lift you and your chair up the stairs, and then be sure to pay very generously for the assistance.
  • 500 rubles is so expensive for a place like this
  • In Peterhof and on the eastern side of Montplesir is the Bath Complex. Buildings of different times. The earliest construction of Peter's time is Guest Room or Room for Familia. In the Guest Chambers housed relatives and close emperors. The Guest Chambers is adjacent to the Soap. In the Montplesir bath the king not only washed, but also carried out traditional medical manipulations. The stone building of the Bath Building was built in the second half of the 19th century for the wife of Emperor Alexander II Maria Alexandrovna with a steam and cold bath for medical procedures. The bathroom shower is camouflaged as an elegant chandelier made of bronze and glass, decorated with bunches of grapes and flowers. Near the Bath Building on the shores of the Gulf of Finland is a Chinese garden.

  • Just a nice and interesting museum, I advise to go to those who are not indifferent to the history of Peterhof.
