Pavlovsk Palace and Park, Pavlovsk
(4.7/5 based on 850+ reviews on the web)
Explore the old hunting grounds of former tsars at Pavlovsk Palace and Park, the home once belonging to Paul I featuring a large green space with an aviary, trails, and gardens. As you walk through the 607 hectare (1,500 acre) park, you'll pass landscaped gardens, bridges, ponds, rivers, and monuments. Empress Catherine II gave the land to her son, Paul I, and his wife and child in 1777. Construction on the palace began in 1781, and the couple traveled around Europe for years collecting objects to fill their new home. You can tour the interior of the house and view its ornate furniture and artwork. • The only thing that I liked, it's squirrels. And Yes, of course the beautiful architecture, but what is turned? Shocked eye brightness and absurdity of carousels and antediluvian entertainment (both from the 90 's) in the territory of the historic place. Plus absolutely no clear pointers for the Palace we have searched long and tedious (though at the entrance buying guide). And after we visited the despicable trips in his life. The guide spoke so quietly that only heard her coming 2-3 person, and the crowd was actually 20 man. But those who understood that nothing can be heard and the money spent in vain and decided to at least take (which is not prohibited), observations were made in sharp form that they interfere with the tour. Generally in all other self-respecting establishments for such excursions have long come up with headphones that would all equally good guide could be heard speaking into the microphone. That is, it's nice to know that and saved, although tickets are higher than for example in oranienbaum with their elegant interactive interesting and informative and pleasant tour guides! In short, you can come back to nature, but not on a tour of the Palace.

  • It also takes about an hour to get to Pavlovsk by car, but it is worth the visit, although not as big as the other palaces, it is one of the Palaces that one must go see. Again this is a nice visit on...  more »
