  • At the end of the 19th century, it was decided the money raised to expand the Vosresenskogo Cathedral in Omsk, to build a temple in the heart of the city, on the former site of the city of groves. Originally anticipated that this would be the Church of the Ascension, but in 1895, the year after the establishment of the Orthodox Eparchy of Omsk, the Uspensky Cathedral decided to call it a cathedral. Architect e. Virrih based project St. Petersburg church of the Savior on the blood of the year 1894, executed a. Parlandom. When the Omsk Temple was not a copy, and refining the architectural solution that temple architecture was commonplace. Construction was started on 16 July 1891 year. The Cathedral's foundation stone was laid by travelling around the country, Nikolai Alexandrovich, Tsarevich, the future Russian Emperor Nicholas II. Originally managed by engineer a. Leshevich. In the same year the Cathedral was dynamited. Intended use the bricks of the Cathedral for the new building of the regional NKVD, but after the explosion, they were unsuitable for construction. July 11, 2005 Government of Omsk region decides to recreate the assumption Cathedral as a monument of history and culture of the Omsk Irtysh region. March 30, 2007 year was raised by the main dome of the Cathedral. on April 16 there is a cross. May 31, 2007 year were installed ceramic icons, which became the main decoration of the external walls of the temple. 2 July, began assembling the iconostasis.
