West Siberian Railway History Museum, Novosibirsk
(4.6/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Admire the mighty machines that once regularly crossed the vast expanses of Siberia and served as the only link between remote places at West Siberian Railway History Museum. The open-air museum features over 100 historical locomotives and vehicles. See old steam and electric engines, some of which are fitted with giant snowplows to serve in the harsh Siberian winters. A tour through the authentically restored train cars allows you to see how different social classes traveled--from high-ranking officials to prisoners bound for gulags. The museum also displays a collection of vintage Russian automobiles and light military vehicles. Though almost all the exhibit signs are in Russian, the exhibit is pretty self-explanatory, so don't fret if you don't understand the language. • 45 minutes from the city centre in direction of Akademgorodok, the Museum of Seyatel must absolutely be visited for all lovers of the trains and the Trans-Siberian. Variety and quality of the material exhibited (and outdoor). Do not go there in winter by-20 °...

  • Museum on the street-need good weather. We were 4 November, in the festive day. Not crowded, it was who came mostly with children. Admission is 90 ₽ adult, children under 6 years free of charge on the territory of road used and worked as a special technique, but in some places it was slippery. You can come with your stroller or sling. Walked and baby fresh, frosty air fell asleep in her arms))) a lot of equipment, as written earlier. The wagons were all closed to visit-very sorry. It was only possible in the locomotives climb. Nearby parking with retro-cars, too, was closed. Try to arrive in summer, can be all work ... and cars and parking. Nearby there is parking for cars and kiosk (plantain) with snacks. Have a good rest.

  • An interesting exhibition complex. Here you can see a lot of steam locomotives, electric locomotives, wagons and auxiliary equipment. In general all than live railroad. The Museum many unique documents, photographs, objects and shapes of railway workers with it Imperial and Soviet periods. Very fully represented the history of the creation of the Trans-Siberian railway.
