Glory monument, Novosibirsk

4.8
Dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, Glory monument presents numerous commemorative statues, military objects, and a site with an eternal flame. Covering almost 2 hectares (5 acres) of land, this National Heritage Site was brought to life by prominent Russian sculptors and architects. View 10 m (33 ft) pillars that depict scenes of war, and pylons with over 30,000 names of the city's fallen soldiers. Look for four chests containing the earth from battlefields, located on top of a hill between the pillars. One striking site--the grieving mother monument--sits above the eternal flame. • 20 years ago, we lived on the street. Stanislavsky in Novosibirsk, Altai now. Then my son was, it turns out years 6-7, and we went to the monument of glory. The son, together with other children at the zalazil tanks, imagining that he controls the equipment. We approached the wall and son of hyphenation read the names of heroes, and I tried to explain that these names are important in the history of our country. If our family question: where to go, the son said: "tanks!". And for us, this place was not only a game, but also an important patriotic subject, place of memory and respect our Soviet soldiers. The son grew up and still remembers this monument.
