The Kremlin, Nizhny Novgorod
(4.4/5 based on 1,300+ reviews on the web)
The region's cultural and political center, The Kremlin occupies a prominent hill in the historical city center of Nizhny Novgorod. Built in the 1500s as part of the country's eastern defenses, the impregnable fortress' 2 km (1.2 mi) long wall originally featured 13 watchtowers, 12 of which survive to this day. Once home to a permanent military garrison, this complex of historical buildings now houses mostly government offices. Inside the 12 m (40 ft) high walls, you can visit a small cathedral dedicated to the Archangel Michael and famous for containing the tomb of Kuzma Minin, a national hero who made his name defending the city against a 17th-century Polish invasion. • The guests of the city and nizhegorodtsam recommend stroll through the Kremlin, starting with Dmitrievskaya Tower. Minin. Inside the Kremlin, an exhibition of military equipment, temples and monuments, the eternal fire, pretty specific platform for photos. In the arsenal of regularly hosts exhibitions of contemporary art. There is a café, where you can relax and have a snack right, in an atmosphere of ancient towers. During the summer be sure to stroll through the Kremlin wall.

  • The Kremlin is certainly good, construction of 16 century preserved till our days! Delight flower beds, monuments and churches. Great arrow Oka and Volga. I'm disappointed that you cannot pass fully on all the walls of the Kremlin ((only from Wednesday to Zachatievskaya Tower, but worst of all the infrastructure on the territory of the Kremlin! It's just a shame, incomprehensible souvenir shops in the walls and on the walls of the Kremlin, the unfinished construction, construction trailers, sprouts, chunks of asphalt, garbage and rubbish vytoptannye trails on the lawns! But the Kremlin is the official residence of the Russian President's Envoy in the PFD , Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region and Mayor of the city, i.e. all this mess going on under our noses! But inside each tower could be interactive exhibitions, the yard because the 21 century!
