  • History of centuries are literally underfoot ... A thousand years have passed ... Jugs, arrows, decorations, kitchenware, remnants of fabrics .... Modern Museum installation. Got a kick out of walking. Not expensive, I wonder. Cognitive

  • Were in December. Wind walk, the sun shines, the people-ANYONE! In all the museums were just we, of course we are extremely pleased-could take consider carefully and read all that wanted to examine and read)) Very beautiful terrain. There just walk already nice. Several small museums. Take a guide. When were we all had weekend guide. By the way, the trains stop in 3-minute walk from the archaeological reserve. And train us went modern. In General, get there and go from there is not difficult, and even a very comfortable and pleasant. And the Tanais-a must see.

  • Tanais is one of the most interesting places for lovers of history, archaeology in the area of Rostov-na-Donu and Taganrog! The northernmost colony of ancient Greeks! Age-2.5 thousand years .... Of course, through the efforts of local residents during this time stone buildings were dismantled and used for the construction of their own homes. As can be seen strolling on the nearby village. But, something left! The hillfort itself impressive, gives an idea of the layout and the level of comfort of life in those times. Understand the size of the city. Preserved its surrounding ditch outline sometime. Over excavation at an altitude of 2-3 meters made an interesting wooden flooring with observation platforms. Very convenient! You can wander through the remnants of the town and from the height of the catwalks to consider its structure, make photo/video. Interesting Museum Tanais. Rather their 2-the old and the new! Both interesting and give insight into the life and culture of the inhabitants. If you are lucky, you can see the archaeologists on excavations! You cannot prevent them from being asked to leave. But a couple of pics can be done. Dig them can be long-excavated are far from everything. ... Think, yet to be discovered! There are separate objects of historical reconstruction: a Roman bridge across the city moat, a House ... There is an exposition devoted to the Scythians, who in those same places! Tanais is interesting as a weekend itinerary. It is felt that it develops and updates. I came here as a child, and much has changed since then. To become better, more interesting. You can come with the family. But there's a problem-it is very hot here in summer, and decent cafes, motels and other tourist infrastructure. Several local residents sell before entering the territory of kvass, ice cream, but no more .... So food and umbrellas better take. There is parking for cars. Free. Anyway-very cool!
