The Worker and Collective Farm Woman, Moscow
(4.4/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web)
Featuring ubiquitous Soviet imagery, The Worker and Collective Farm Woman represents a well-preserved example of socialist realism. Originally designed for the Soviet pavilion at the 1937 Paris World's Fair, the statue was later relocated here. Stop by the sculpture, rising to a height of more than 25 m (82 ft), and get a glimpse of the symbolism that once featured so prominently in cities around the country. The stainless steel monument depicts a man and woman clutching their famous tools, representing the laborers and collective farm workers of the USSR, respectively. Note that the figures are arranged so that their equipment forms the classic hammer-and-sickle symbol of the Communist Soviet government. Make The Worker and Collective Farm Woman a part of your Moscow vacation plans using our Moscow trip itinerary planner.

  • Honestly, no luck with the weather and it's all impaired. I am sure that one of the best free places in Moscow. Simfol Mosfilm, USSR symbol. Even now, this monument is impressive. And VDNKh-a very interesting place. I will definitely recommend it to anyone who visits this city and has free time. Here is a good atmosphere!

  • We visited the Museum, located in the pedestal of the monument "worker and kolkhoz woman". It cost zero roubles. We got tickets in Exchange for points "active citizen". The Museum opens at 11:00. We were the first visitors in the Museum you can collect fact sheets about each of the presented exhibits for this at the entrance we were given fasteners for fastening of sheets. At an exhibit of the artist (photography, archival data and models of buildings), visitors can take a flyer and then read them at home. At the top was an exhibition of Kazakhstan artists. On the ground floor there is a small shop where you can buy books and souvenirs.

  • This monument is one of many that is familiar to everyone, and the Soviet person-since childhood. This is our history. And VDNKH too recognizable for this monument. And Mosfilm too). It is therefore quite logical, walking on VDNKH, touching this monument, honoring our history.
