St. Basil's Cathedral, Moscow

(7,000+ reviews on the web)
Church
The symbol of Moscow for over four centuries, centrally located St. Basil's Cathedral seems like an image plucked out of a book of fairy tales. Constructed in the 1550s on the orders of Ivan the Terrible, the cathedral features vividly colored onion-shaped domes and an asymmetrical design unusual in traditional Russian architecture. Four of the eight side churches surrounding the main cathedral structure sit on raised platforms, designed to make them appear suspended in air. The massive structure contains a maze of vaulted corridors and vertical cylinders, the largest of which is 46 m (150 ft) tall. Walk inside to see the elaborate Baroque iconostasis, decorated with gilded cornices and corbel arches. • This church is one of the most beautiful buildings I've seen in all my travels around the world are building gorgeous but a masterpiece of exquisite historical artifacts-Falls Church or Saint Basil's Cathedral in downtown Moscow, but in her heart and she's in red square and the Kremlin-the Cathedral architecture in terms of construction dat domes novelist and stunningly picturesque and scrollwork and also in terms of the colors blended stunning colors painted enjoyed visitor-is very easy on the tourist go to this The Church for being in Central Moscow where you can reach it by taxi and public transportation or magnificent Moscow metro-recommend all tourists visit either Muslims or others for being a unique gem in the tourist capital of the Russian State jewels necklace-Moscow

  • Is really worth it. Walk quietly through it and let the splendour again on you in work. Use of cameras is forbidden, but with your phone you can also make nice pictures

  • It looks increadibally colorfull and vibrant, i would defiently visit it in the near future
  • Fantastic, and well worth a visit both inside and outside. I may be slightly biased as I've wanted to see this place in person since I was 9, but wow, it was amazing. Photos do not do St. Basil's justice, the artworks and icons should really be seen first hand. Admission for adults was 350 roubles when I went (August 2016). It's open every day until 7pm, and looks magical in the sunset, so I'd recommend visiting later in the evening (you'll also avoid a lot of the crowds then). The steps up to the second floor are very steep and narrow, so maybe not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. Photography is allowed inside, but they do ask you to switch flashes off.
  • An amazing experience to say the least , make sure all your batteries are charged on the cameras. I recommend getting there when the gates open that way you can have clear pictures of the buildings without people walking around everywhere. Red Square gets extremely packed, try to order tickets the day prior to the event or get there early to buy the tickets. Russia was an amazing experience and very easy to get around.
  • A must-see in Moscow! It looks GORGEOUS! A unique cathedral in the world, I takes lots of pictures. The domes on the top are so colorful and cute. Love it.
  • You don't have to enter the basil, just enjoy the stunning view.
