Sokolniki Park, Moscow

4.5
#7 of 82 in Parks in Moscow
Nature / Park
Embrace local culture at Sokolniki Park, reputed to be the city's oldest and most popular public park. Originally seen as the tzar's resting place, the park has been revamped following some years of neglect. Kids will enjoy the amusement park, complete with several ziplines. Rent a bicycle to tour the 515 hectare (1,272 acre) park, or hop on a segway for different kind of tour. To refuel, stop at one of the many cafes and restaurants within the park. Sokolniki Park is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Moscow Edition.

Where to stay in Moscow

The capital of Russia and a huge metropolis, Moscow offers a plethora of different types of accommodations. Many renowned hotel chains are represented in the city, and some of its hotels rank among the world's most luxurious and expensive. Those traveling on a more modest budget can choose among the boutique or Soviet-era hotels. There are also numerous hostels and short-term rental apartments throughout the city. When choosing a place to stay, especially if you're only planning for a short visit, always bear in mind the size of Moscow. Staying too far from the center might mean that the precious time you could spend on sightseeing will be wasted in traffic and transport.

  • Have not been there for a while and was amazed at all the changes - lots of activities - ice skating, trampolines, slides, places to eat, kids loved it and I obviously did as well.  more »
