Peter The Great Monument, Moscow

Rising above the Moskva River in the center the city, Peter The Great Monument pays homage to one of Russia's most legendary figures. Standing at a height of 98 m (322 ft), the statue generated controversy not just for its design but for the fact that Peter himself had a well-documented hatred of Moscow. Judge for yourself by stopping at the towering metal statue, just a stone's throw from the Kremlin. Look up to see an oversized Peter astride a mound of sailing ships, clutching a golden scroll in his hand--a tribute to his foundation and development of the Russian Navy. Bring your camera to capture this prominent component of the skyline. Plan to see Peter The Great Monument and other attractions that appeal to you using our Moscow tour builder website .

Reach the sculpture of Peter the great, for my was an Odyssey, since the day that I wanted to visit her there was a great concentration of people who went to the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, which I prevented visit the Church and seek an alternate path to the monument of Peter. The streets were closed and police would not let go. It was like a kind of pilgrimage. Well just try to reach to the statue and so did you despuyes one hour of travel... and crossing the bridge vehicle more away from the crowd. Approach me more to the monument is could appreciate its magnitude and the infinity of details, which despite the cloudy day is appreciated with very well. It is one of the statues more high in the world since it arrives at 96 m and it is located several small sail boats and one large over who represents the triumph of Pedro on the troops enemy... As I have documented on the statue, it is cataloged as the more ugly in the world and also is embroiled in controversy since its opening. Personally to my I like very much, as all Russian monuments by its dimensions and the Socialist sense. I am not sure if you can visit inside.

Where to stay in Moscow

The capital of Russia and a huge metropolis, Moscow offers a plethora of different types of accommodations. Many renowned hotel chains are represented in the city, and some of its hotels rank among the world's most luxurious and expensive. Those traveling on a more modest budget can choose among the boutique or Soviet-era hotels. There are also numerous hostels and short-term rental apartments throughout the city. When choosing a place to stay, especially if you're only planning for a short visit, always bear in mind the size of Moscow. Staying too far from the center might mean that the precious time you could spend on sightseeing will be wasted in traffic and transport.
