Peter The Great Monument, Moscow
(1.1/5 based on 190+ reviews on the web)
Rising above the Moskva River in the center the city, Peter The Great Monument pays homage to one of Russia's most legendary figures. Standing at a height of 98 m (322 ft), the statue generated controversy not just for its design but for the fact that Peter himself had a well-documented hatred of Moscow. Judge for yourself by stopping at the towering metal statue, just a stone's throw from the Kremlin. Look up to see an oversized Peter astride a mound of sailing ships, clutching a golden scroll in his hand--a tribute to his foundation and development of the Russian Navy. Bring your camera to capture this prominent component of the skyline. • It is a huge monument is 98 meters in height and total weight of 1,000 tons. I thought when I first saw in Europe often is Poseidon's statue or saw, guide, and Pyotr the great. Moscow river cruise ride and looks better. Anniversary of Moscow 850, it was built in 1997. High leap is made by grip or foundation that I do not understand, but the design was confused.

  • Interesting piece of art - a statue by the river, good to watch from many points to grab the whole power of it. Don't save much time for it, as it is enough to take a look continue sight-seeing.
