Patriarch's Pond, Moscow

(4.5/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
Stroll down pathways shaded by trees at Patriarch's Pond, immortalized by writer Mikhail Bulgakov in his world-famous novel "The Master and Margarita." Look for the road sign that says "Do not talk to strangers," showing the silhouettes of the novel's devil and his henchmen. The pond, surrounded by a wide path with benches, also features a boathouse made of stone. You can see statues of Bulgakov and Ivan Krylov, a 19th-century Russian children's writer, near the pond. Have a drink at the cafe Margarita, another reference to the famous novel. Add Patriarch's Pond and other attractions to your Moscow trip itinerary using our Moscow family vacation planner.

  • This is silent place near the center and noisy streets and the whole district around the pond is good for walking. But the most interesting this place is for those who have read the famous M.Bulgakov ...  more »
  • Quiet and romantic location in the center of Moscow. Many of the Patriarch's ponds associated with "master and Margarita". Well maintained green square, a beautiful pond, swans, ducks. There is a playground, a lot of benches. For lovers of history-information boards with the historical background of this site. You will see a monument to i. a. Krylov and sculptures with the heroes of his fables-children with interesting guess who from a fable. In the surrounding streets-a lot of cute cafés where you can grab a snack and a cup of coffee. Weather permitting, stroll leisurely on the streets-lanes, admire the old houses, squares and monuments and enjoy the atmosphere of old Moscow. Walk to the patriarshiye ponds can be from. Metro station «Mayakovskaya» or «Pushkinskaya».

  • Green zone in the Centre of the city, a small pond, Museum staff frequently hang up a sign "talk to strangers is dangerous" and so regularly he disappears. You can sit by the water and walk around on the tracks.

  • Well this is now one of the most European parts of Moscow. If you want to go for a walk and to eat in a better than usual restaurant you shall come here.
  • Great place to hang out and try restaurants above average
  • Very picturesque place, but very bad infrastructure, the sidewalks in heavy rain are basically flooded and one can't get around without getting wet, public toilet is awful and very dirty, do yourself a favor and don't go inside not to ruin the impression of the place, just go in one of the nearby cafes.
  • Tiny piece of freshness in a crowded city
  • Nice #calm place#good place for hanging out
