Patriarch's Pond, Moscow

4.5
#40 of 2,725 in Things to do in Moscow
Stroll down pathways shaded by trees at Patriarch's Pond, immortalized by writer Mikhail Bulgakov in his world-famous novel "The Master and Margarita." Look for the road sign that says "Do not talk to strangers," showing the silhouettes of the novel's devil and his henchmen. The pond, surrounded by a wide path with benches, also features a boathouse made of stone. You can see statues of Bulgakov and Ivan Krylov, a 19th-century Russian children's writer, near the pond. Have a drink at the cafe Margarita, another reference to the famous novel. • Of course, reading the Mim I imagined this place quite differently. How presentable is the title "Patriarshi Prudy" and on the fact it is a small swamp, with a dozen benches around the perimeter.

  • A beautiful and quiet place to just walk or sit on a bench and read. Very nice place for those who want tranquility and solitude.

  • Patriarch's ponds. As in Soviet times, they were renamed Pioneer. In winter, an ice rink was here, as elsewhere in Moscow, free. Be sure to play music and you can change clothes, warm up in the locker room. Here we very often went with dad. In 60-ies rollers flooded all the yards, but there was a special atmosphere.

  • Once there were Marsh, and now the cult place. Beautifully even deep in the fall! The pond has already tightened ledkom. Beauty! But even here there is a restaurant, playground, free Wi-Fi. Yes... And it wouldn't hurt to put a monument to Bulgakov. If not, then it wouldn't be these ponds such iconic and atmospheric ...

  • Atmospheric place, which is associated with our city intimately. Here are surprisingly interwoven works-Fables of KRYLOV and "master and Margarita" by Mikhail Bulgakov. Jewelry is a monument, a lake with birds, a children's playground. You can also enjoy free Internet under the trees.

Where to stay in Moscow

The capital of Russia and a huge metropolis, Moscow offers a plethora of different types of accommodations. Many renowned hotel chains are represented in the city, and some of its hotels rank among the world's most luxurious and expensive. Those traveling on a more modest budget can choose among the boutique or Soviet-era hotels. There are also numerous hostels and short-term rental apartments throughout the city. When choosing a place to stay, especially if you're only planning for a short visit, always bear in mind the size of Moscow. Staying too far from the center might mean that the precious time you could spend on sightseeing will be wasted in traffic and transport.
