Patriarch's Pond, Moscow

#38 of 1,337 in Things to do in Moscow
Stroll down pathways shaded by trees at Patriarch's Pond, immortalized by writer Mikhail Bulgakov in his world-famous novel "The Master and Margarita." Look for the road sign that says "Do not talk to strangers," showing the silhouettes of the novel's devil and his henchmen. The pond, surrounded by a wide path with benches, also features a boathouse made of stone. You can see statues of Bulgakov and Ivan Krylov, a 19th-century Russian children's writer, near the pond. Have a drink at the cafe Margarita, another reference to the famous novel. All the familiar ponds, beautiful novel by Mikhail Bulgakov's "master and Margarita". A great place for walks or just reading books (many shops). Nearby there are several restaurants and of course the "naughty" apartment.

A small lake in the middle of town, between a boulevard. A relaxing corner between traffic impossible. If you wish you can feed swans and pigeons!

Well this is now one of the most European parts of Moscow. If you want to go for a walk and to eat in a better than usual restaurant you shall come here.

Where to stay in Moscow

The capital of Russia and a huge metropolis, Moscow offers a plethora of different types of accommodations. Many renowned hotel chains are represented in the city, and some of its hotels rank among the world's most luxurious and expensive. Those traveling on a more modest budget can choose among the boutique or Soviet-era hotels. There are also numerous hostels and short-term rental apartments throughout the city. When choosing a place to stay, especially if you're only planning for a short visit, always bear in mind the size of Moscow. Staying too far from the center might mean that the precious time you could spend on sightseeing will be wasted in traffic and transport.
