4.7
Walk in the shadow of colossal dinosaurs and marvel at examples of the early phases of life on Earth at Orlov Paleontological Museum. The six museum halls house a collection of over 5,000 artifacts that have been carefully gathered for almost a century. You can see everything from fully assembled skeletons of dinosaurs and other ancient creatures to the fossils of almost every type of discovered prehistoric organism. Some understating of Russian an asset when visiting the museum because there aren't a lot of explanations in English, and audio guides are not available. • In February the year 2018 with a child visited the Museum of Paleontology. Granddaughter was shocked by the size of the dinosaurs. The biggest dinosaur is the Diplodocus. Looked skeletons of mammoths, Rhinoceros, and also saw a giant stag, saber and mammoth Dima. The next time you want to visit the Museum with a guide. It will be very interesting.

  • And an interesting Museum, and many of the exhibits. But: as a museum was opened in the 80-ies of the last century (it seems, in 1987), since then the exposure virtually not changed-stands, showcases, set pieces, all that I remember more of his childhood. But 30 years have passed-surely you can't modernize filing material, make interactive maps, manuals etc.. Remained in the courtyard of the great figures of ancient animals that were interesting to someone 30 years ago (now and their appearance changed), were left dirty, unkempt public places of "sovok" remains at the Museum of the problem to find an urn for garbage. But on weekends and vacations there almost all come with children. Before the Museum produced and sold in the foyer of their icons, their label, and now there's only multicolor aljapovatoe ugliness from obscure materials made on the outskirts of Guangzhou

  • Very interesting. Real dinosaurs! That's incredible. They really were! The Museum building built specifically for the Museum in the year 1972. The Soviet Union built thoroughly. Even more so for dinosaurs. The huge territory, carved ceilings, chandelier, as in Soviet homes otdyhah and many more skeletons of various dinosaurs, wonderful fish, Dima and much, much more. Worth a go. Take a guided tour for 10 class. Boring (about every bone told) and expensive (5700). Very beautiful panels at the entrance. Stuck at 7 minutes. Younger students were simply delighted. We just heard WOW! Probably to take free access or go with the younger children.

  • Firstly I'd like to remark tiny disadvantage of placement of museum. It is far from main public transportation network. That's why the majority of guests arrive by their cars, but the place for parking is finite. Therefore the best time to visit this museum is its opening. The exposition is terrific. A huge skeleton of dinosaurs takes two floors, ancient reptiles, mammoth's tusks and talon's of centuries-old birds and plenty of others fossils. Exposition halls are spacious and a grand amount of guests doesn't hamper to explore different specimens. There is a splendid park zone near the museum. Thus you can spend some time walking around while you wait opening or after the attendance of exposition.
  • Great place with lots of fossils. Here you can watch and learn a lot about evolution of species. Even big dinosaur's fossils are available here. Collection is big, you can also download free app with guide's speech (qr-code for downloading is in the museum). This place is great for kids (they are amazed of big dinosaurs). Pros: big queue on holidays (on normal days no queue at all), cash-only tickets, slow service at cloakroom.
  • Great walk, everything in russian, they have a recorded tour on the travel app, so don't forget headphones
  • It's very interesting place for kids and adults. There are a lot of fossils, skeleton of mammoth and other the oldest animals! There is the mummy of little Mammoth his name is Dima. It is complete preserved one. There is a parking not far from the museum, on nearly street.
  • Nice museum! Free parking, but far from center and metro stations.

Where to stay in Moscow

The capital of Russia and a huge metropolis, Moscow offers a plethora of different types of accommodations. Many renowned hotel chains are represented in the city, and some of its hotels rank among the world's most luxurious and expensive. Those traveling on a more modest budget can choose among the boutique or Soviet-era hotels. There are also numerous hostels and short-term rental apartments throughout the city. When choosing a place to stay, especially if you're only planning for a short visit, always bear in mind the size of Moscow. Staying too far from the center might mean that the precious time you could spend on sightseeing will be wasted in traffic and transport.
