Where to stay in Moscow

The capital of Russia and a huge metropolis, Moscow offers a plethora of different types of accommodations. Many renowned hotel chains are represented in the city, and some of its hotels rank among the world's most luxurious and expensive. Those traveling on a more modest budget can choose among the boutique or Soviet-era hotels. There are also numerous hostels and short-term rental apartments throughout the city. When choosing a place to stay, especially if you're only planning for a short visit, always bear in mind the size of Moscow. Staying too far from the center might mean that the precious time you could spend on sightseeing will be wasted in traffic and transport.

  • It was founded in 1386 and it was part of the Kremlin, moved to the present location only in 1484, this is one of the oldest building in downtown Moscow, outside the Kremlin walls. After many sad even...  more »
  • In the monastery restoration continues, is available and is open until one temple, where the service goes, there's also an unusual icon of Saint Nicholas. The school was demolished, and the temples were almost out of the land of Moscow. A great walk.

  • Long was not in the territory of the Nativity stavropigial'nogo Nativity convent, who previously was in ruins, and is now slowly recovering. Nice view of the monastery opens with the Christmas Boulevard (mostly brick fence visible red and white elegant body and the refectory Church of the Kazan icon of the Theotokos). Historic monastery, was founded in the 14th century and already so worthy of attention. The compact territory of passage to a number of buildings closed, but you can visit the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin, as well as the already mentioned Kazan shrine (works on a schedule to be confirmed). It is worth noting that in the 90-ies of the 20-th century the monastery has become operational again after a long period of decline during the USSR.

  • A large part of the monastery has been restored, in very good condition. Part of the buildings not repaired. The main drawback of this place is closed. Nasel'nicy monastery do not want to see people from the street and show them her convent. Entrance is possible only on a limited platform from the gate Bell Tower to the temples. For very big empty temples (issued under the square) space where simply not allowed. The temple is open for visits only one We came specially for Passover. Access to the square and belfry access was still closed. Certainly, the monastery has the right to live according to their charters, and at the discretion of the mother. But if in the center of the enormous city is similar to the "black box"-the question arises, why is he here? Cloisters in the closed place in desert locations, we have them available. Monastery objectively participates in shaping image of Moscow. But this is a feeling-not wanting to. From positive-the monastery interesting up-to-date site on the Web, a lot of interesting information.

  • On the territory of ionastjarja in the Soviet period was 240 school where I studied. Very glad that monast'r' acting very try sisters, with warmth and love greeted each parishioner. Very traditional and miracle-working icons are located in the temple, sisters tell about each icon, very auspicious atmosphere. Really wants to help the sisters in their hard case, the revival of the monastery from the ruins. In Soviet times, when we were in school, the temples were classrooms Architectural Institute and warehouses. Very happy that vosstanavili temples, and sozhaleeju its razobrennoj brick by brick school (nastolgiya on school years) always come here with awe and love!
