Muzeon Art Park, Moscow

Categories: Specialty Museums, Museums
Inspirock Rating:
4.6/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web
Get a glimpse of Russia's artistic past at Muzeon Art Park, a space dedicated to statues and monuments primarily from the days of the Soviet Union. The park, home to more than 700 pieces, is something of a time capsule from an era when socialist realist styles dominated public spaces around the country. You can find all sorts of famous figures among the multitude of statues, including the infamous Josef Stalin and Vladimir Lenin, along with the equally ubiquitous hammer-and-sickle symbols of the former USSR. You'll see plenty of generic statues dedicated to workers, collective farmers, and other Soviet archetypes as well. Take special note of the fact that many of the statues are somewhat damaged; this is a result of their abandonment after the collapse of Communism, and many were toppled and left to degrade before they came to the collection beginning in 1992. • It was nice to not only walk on the Park's territory, but also look at the Soviet-era monuments and sculptures. For adults-an encounter with the past. For young-acquaintance with history. Thank you, that someone had enough reason not to destroy the monuments, but simply move to another location.

  • With colleague were passing through Moscow, long heard about this museum. Despite the rain and rather cool weather, decided to visit the Park-Museum. Remained are very happy. I advise everyone to visit this place.

  • Free spirited kind of park with a lot of sculptures. And a totaly different atmosphere from the gorky park which is across the road.
  • Great place to relax and chill out on a nice day. Live music, little stands selling homemade lemonade and ice cream in the summer, crazy Soviet sculptures, fountain pop-ups for kids on hot days - awesome. Walk around nearby Gorki Park as well: sit by the huge fountain, play table tennis outside and people watch for hours.
  • Nice park with a lot of sculptures. In the summer there are often special events such as concerts and other activities.
  • Nice park, lots of statues. Nice to walk through
  • Many people come here to spend some time in the river side park.
