Kuskovo Estate, Moscow
(4.6/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
The former summer home of a Russian noble family, the Sheremetevs, Kuskovo Estate today serves as the site of the Russian State Museum of Ceramics. The estate, built in the middle of the 18th century, was originally set in the countryside, but as Moscow expanded the rural atmosphere faded; today it stands in the city's East District. The museum displays over 30,000 exhibits of ceramics and glassware, with major collections of German, English, French, Danish, and Russian and Soviet porcelain. Outside the museum, tour the expansive grounds and visit the grotto, the Dutch house, and the main palace. • I highly recommend this estate for a glimpse into C18 palace life. Wonderful garden pavillions. Interiors are full of interesting objects, including paintings by serf artists. Go if it is snowing. The...  more »
  • Very beautiful place in Moscow. Here you can stroll the romantic couple or with kids, appreciate the beauty of the Park, ponds, buildings. Appreciate the splendor of the Palace and other buildings on the estate. But I want to caution travelers from visiting this place during the colder months of the year, especially in winter. I went on a field trip with his class of kuskovo Palace-started small 10-11 years. Not very warm bus, on the street in a snowstorm and Blizzard. But we are not embarrassed, the benefit to go it was far away and colorful guide described the US beauty farm. The surprise was that none of the rooms of the Manor is not heated! The Rangers were in boots and warm fur coats, breath Shel couples hats children for all time excursions and not melted snowflakes. We moved out of the building in the building, the difference in temperature not felt-just indoors was not the snow and wind. The only warm place was toilet! Here is where we finally were able to get warm!

  • At the end of October, I visited the Museum-estate of Kuskovo. This architecturally-Park complex, the former estate of sheremetevs. The Manor complex Kuskovo was built as the summer residence of count Sheremetev and was intended for fun and entertainment, luxurious balls and opulent receptions. Kuskovo Palace is a Palace, Grotto, the Orangery, the Hermitage, the Museum of ceramics, the Church of the all-merciful, the Aviary for birds. There are in the Museum-estate Portrait Gallery, collected by count Sheremetev, which opened to visitors in the large stone Orangery, after a long restoration. The main building of the ensemble is the Palace, which preserved the layout and the rich interior décor. In the rooms of the rich and beautiful furniture, on walls portraits of Russian emperors and Sheremetev family themselves. There is a big picture of "the mistress of the kitchen", written on a wooden basis for restoration which collected the rest of the world. In large stone Gallery once cultivated exotic plants, and now houses an exhibition of glass and ceramics. To explore the open Museum of ceramics, the only one in Russia and one of the largest in the world. The Museum presents a collection of ceramics and glass in various countries, as well as a great collection of Russian porcelain. Manor Park ensemble fall does not look so beautiful all sculptures Park closed wooden boxes and are not all buildings of the ensemble Kuskovo and parkland no fountains such Park and a fountain. Only one in the Park Cafe and osenno-winter period it is not working. So all meals and water to take with you! Kuskovo estate-the perfect place where you can have fun, but we need to go in the summer.
