Kolomenskoye Historical and Architectural Museum and Reserve, Moscow

(4.7/5 based on 2,000+ reviews on the web)
Situated just a short drive southeast of Moscow's city center, Kolomenskoye Historical and Architectural Museum and Reserve combines history and nature. Formerly a rural estate developed as a summer retreat for the wealthy grand princes of Muscovy, this open-air museum contains both authentic and reconstructed historical buildings. The complex notably includes a 16th-century church built to commemorate the birth of Ivan the Terrible. Constructed of white stone, the church significantly departed from Byzantine building tradition by incorporating an octagonal body and a tiny dome. Other notable structures within the complex include a log cabin built for Peter the Great and a reconstruction of a wooden palace famed for its fairytale roofs. • Very well maintained Park, there are places where to eat and sit. From the Museum of beautiful views of the river. In summer you can go on boat trips. You can rent bicycles to rent. At one end of the park there is a Apple Orchard, there is very beautiful in spring when the trees are in blossom. Many people go here for picnics. Sometimes there are held fairs and events (for example, maslenitsa)-then here is a crowd of people. Very good coming here during the warmer months, take a walk, have a picnic with family and friends.

  • A great place for walks in summer and winter. There is a long promenade along which to run evenings, there is a large Apple Orchard, which blooms in the spring, beautiful buildings, a pleasant Park on the Hill. The beauty of autumn-at the expense of diversity of deciduous trees Park "ignited" fiery red colors, the leaves can be fun hanging out with kids
