Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center, Moscow

(4.4/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
Understand the complex history of Russian Jewry by looking into personal testimonies, archival video footage, and interactive high-tech displays at Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center. The museum opened in 2012 in the restored Bakhmetevsky Bus Garage, a world-famous Constructivist masterpiece. Architects Melnikov and Shukhov designed the building in 1926. Notice how the interior lighting resembles slanted rays of sunshine. The exhibits, divided chronologically in 12 galleries, evoke the lives of Russian Jews since the late 19th century, with special emphasis on the fate of Soviet Jews and the role of Jewish soldiers during World War II. The museum also features a shop, a lecture hall, and a cafe. • If you decide to diversify your leisure visit to the entertaining space and at the same time, learn something new, the Jewish Museum and the Centre of tolerance that is the place! First, though, you need to know: the Museum is closed on Saturday and Jewish holidays, to all other days, Baruch ABA! (Welcome!) First of all, I would like to note the interactivity and modernity of the equipment, the design museum. Indeed, in our days, the days of the twenty-first century is especially important! Here you clearly don't need to be bored, because you are the initiator. Yes, it is worth touching subjects exhibit before you will be projected on the screens of realistic action from the life of people, their traditions and way of life. I would like to specifically note cinema in 2D format. more interesting and entertaining stories about the origins of religion, namely Judaism I never saw. After the cultural saturation, visitors can eat and traditional food of Israel without leaving the Center. The Café offers a diverse menu of Alef and delicious. Since I am ardent fan of falafel-the choice was obvious: + hummus, and potato wedges with vegetables. Nice lighting on 4 + uniquely! In general I ADVISE! You will not regret it:)

Took a 3D installation with Jewish families. Learned a lot about Jews, about the horrors that they endured a very pleasant environment for children, too, even though they were very much different vozvrastov 8, 9, 10 and 11 years old.

  • Yesterday were in this remarkable contemporary Museum in a new exhibition of photographs of Philippe Halsman in the framework of the Moscow Biennale exhibition is free of charge and is dedicated to the outstanding Jewish photographer from Riga. Most enjoyed the famous Jump series. The museum itself recommend to view not only as an exhibition space, but also as with love was overplayed by the architects monument times constructivism Melnikova. One of my favorite new museums.
