Specialty Museum
Understand the complex history of Russian Jewry by looking into personal testimonies, archival video footage, and interactive high-tech displays at Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center. The museum opened in 2012 in the restored Bakhmetevsky Bus Garage, a world-famous Constructivist masterpiece. Architects Melnikov and Shukhov designed the building in 1926. Notice how the interior lighting resembles slanted rays of sunshine. The exhibits, divided chronologically in 12 galleries, evoke the lives of Russian Jews since the late 19th century, with special emphasis on the fate of Soviet Jews and the role of Jewish soldiers during World War II. The museum also features a shop, a lecture hall, and a cafe. • I have heard a lot about this Museum (or Center, as it is called), but was pleasantly surprised when the first of his visit. Many are carefully stored artifacts, modern presentation of the material, including holography, lots of interactivity. Therefore, it is better to see once.

  • Very nice hi-tech approach to attract the interest of young people in the study and understanding of Jewish culture! Also was pleased with the accommodation of different exhibitions on other topics.

  • This museum is worth a visit. And not just once. Very modern. In a small square lies an enormous amount of material from the history of the Jewish people. This is possible thanks to the interactivity of the Museum. It uses the most advanced equipment that can be used to create the exhibit: 4 d-cinema, multimedia and interactive displays, animating locations and sculptures. In the Museum you can learn about the most famous Jews of Russia, history of the people from the beginning of time to the present day. The Centre is located on the territory of the Museum of tolerance, restaurant with national cuisine and shop with souvenirs. Visit this museum stands for many reasons.

  • One of best museums I have visited. Very interactive. Lots of information. Probably good for children with enough hands on exhibits. Spent a couple hours here. They take ISIC cards.
  • Really surprised of overall hall design (looks futuristic. And of course exposition itself exactly emulates classic jewish settlements.
  • Place that you must visit in moscow plan a 3h visit for thisplace to see one of the multimadia best show of jewish story
  • If you would choose the metro for transportation, I recommend to get off at Mar'ina Roshcha station (Green line). Then there is no any sign to go there, so the best way is to ask the adress to people or use navigation. It will take approximately 15-20 minutes from Mar'ina Roscha station.
  • Beatiful and interactive museum
