Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center, Moscow
(4.4/5 based on 480+ reviews on the web)
Understand the complex history of Russian Jewry by looking into personal testimonies, archival video footage, and interactive high-tech displays at Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center. The museum opened in 2012 in the restored Bakhmetevsky Bus Garage, a world-famous Constructivist masterpiece. Architects Melnikov and Shukhov designed the building in 1926. Notice how the interior lighting resembles slanted rays of sunshine. The exhibits, divided chronologically in 12 galleries, evoke the lives of Russian Jews since the late 19th century, with special emphasis on the fate of Soviet Jews and the role of Jewish soldiers during World War II. The museum also features a shop, a lecture hall, and a cafe. • The Museum has many times. Very decent place! And here's the Cafe Museum Alef gone bad ... all became dramatically more expensive (I would say inappropriately expensive). Many dishes from the menu is not available. Discount Museum visitors on the site promise really does not give. No meat and alcohol. I do not recommend. Better to eat elsewhere.

  • This museum was 4 times. When much talked about opening it, went out of curiosity and was struck by the museums a level we have not yet had. Then whittling back his girlfriends, and recently was there with the school group. And each time add to their experiences something new. In the Museum you can just have a good time, getting acquainted with different interactive whistles. And you can seriously not only to get acquainted with the history of the Jewish people, but also our entire country. Very impressive section on World War II. Yet the Museum holds interesting meetings, film screenings, etc. This is supposed to be a modern museum which is interesting for a variety of people, both adults and children.

  • Whoever you were not on religious views, well worth a visit one of the most (if not the) technologically developed Museum in Moscow. Permanent exhibition and temporary exhibition very interesting and educational!
