  • Hurry dorogie moskvichi and guests of the capital. In the Roerich Museum is a branch of the State Museum of Oriental art in Moscow until 17 January exhibition "Nicholas Roerich. Climbing. " Guaranteed unforgettable impressions and emotions. The exhibition is unique, gathered from the collections of several museums and galleries. Moving from one room to the other really clearly see transformation of Roerich as a person and artist. I did not leave a sense of theatrics and decoration of his paintings. For an additional fee, you can take a guided tour. Recommend to visit.

  • I visited this museum 20 years ago and have loved Roerich's paintings ever since. I was super excited to visit again but on arrival it was closed. There was a group of people outside and they handed m...  more »
  • This museum was 8 years ago, and then decided to go again. The exposition has changed over the years. It seems to me that before basically hung paintings with mystical scenes: riders in the sky, travellers in Halo ... At this time was dominated by landscapes. The Museum is very interesting! Each room is decorated differently: the blue room with antique reliefs, yellow room with a wooden carved cornice, dark blue Hall with lights in the walls. Plays soft music. The atmosphere is soothing. In addition to the completely unimaginable shining pictures with mountains, you can see items: beads, bracelets, decorative boxes, chess, clothing of travelers, letters and photographs. One of the rooms is dedicated to the symbol of peace. The tremendous visjashhem the globe noted checkboxes where he visited-at both poles, in different countries, and even in space! Wonderfully renovated mansion. No wonder the Museum noted for this award! Here often arrange musical evenings and lectures. Once I was on one of the evenings. The Quartet then playing ancient musical instruments. The only thing that upset-during March events selectively "arrested" many paintings. In the halls and hang ropes on which they were attached. In each room we were approached workers demonstrated in electronic catalogues what painting hung on the empty field, so we can feel the composition room. After the seizure of the paintings violate the balance of stains and colors. Hope everything would be settled and the Museum not trusts. He's wonderful!

  • The International Centre of the Roerichs and the Museum by name of Nicholas Roerich were established by the initiative of Svetoslav Roerich, the younger son of Nicholas and Helena Roerichs. In 1989 Svetoslav Roerich donated from India to Russia an invaluable heritage of his parents on behalf of the Soviet Roerich Fund (The International Centre of the Roerichs). The exposition of the Museum contains collections of scenic pictures by Nicholas and Sletoslav Roerichs, photos, different documents and manuscripts from the family archive, treasures, books and personal belongings which preserve the memory of their great owners. Among the exhibits one can find unique "thangkas" (Buddhist icons on fabric), rare collections of bronze and books. The Banner of Peace Hall presents exhibits connected with the first international treaty on Protection of Artistic and Scientific Institutions and Historic Monuments - the Roerich Pact. The ideas of the "Living Ethics" are the basis of the Roerich family oeuvre. It is a philosophy of the cosmic reality, which develops the idea of close relationship between the mankind and the cosmos.

Where to stay in Moscow

The capital of Russia and a huge metropolis, Moscow offers a plethora of different types of accommodations. Many renowned hotel chains are represented in the city, and some of its hotels rank among the world's most luxurious and expensive. Those traveling on a more modest budget can choose among the boutique or Soviet-era hotels. There are also numerous hostels and short-term rental apartments throughout the city. When choosing a place to stay, especially if you're only planning for a short visit, always bear in mind the size of Moscow. Staying too far from the center might mean that the precious time you could spend on sightseeing will be wasted in traffic and transport.
