Gorky's House (Ryabushinsky Mansion), Moscow

(4.7/5 based on 160 reviews on the web)
Gorky's House (Ryabushinsky Mansion) features a collection of the writer's personal items, as well as his rich library. The mansion is an exquisite example of early 20th-century Art Nouveau. Fyodor Shekhtel designed the house as a work of art for a rich industrialist, and Stalin later gave it to Gorky in 1931. Inside, admire the sculpted doorways, stained-glass windows, and ceiling murals. Notice the orchid frieze that runs all around the house. The carved stone staircase is a highlight, which features naturalist elements, such as flowers, snails, and jellyfish. • Museum-apartment of Bitter is valuable in that it contains only the original stuff. Such museums can be counted on the fingers of one hand. Interesting he interwoven fates. The main building-a former ryabushinsky mansion, where in 30-years lived with his son, Maxim Gorki, near a wing for household needs and workers, in which the 40-years lived the writer Alexey Tolstoy. Maxim Gorky wrote in this House "life Klima Samgina" and Tolstoy-"Walking purgatory". So you can see immediately the Museum 2. Gorky returned from Italy "at the request of the workers", and he chose House richer. But, interestingly, the writer himself was against living in mansions. He said that what will people living in hellish conditions, stable, coming in such a House. Parallel pass before us the fate of the former owners of the Manor Ryabushinskys-famous dynasty of industrialists-old believers and proletarian poet. And the fate of the famous architect Shekhtel, who was made an order of the House. The whole House is full of mysteries and characters. The House has a secret Chapel, hidden from the eye. All the Interior is made in the same style. The main accent serves wavy staircase leading up somewhere, straight to the sky. In the House there is the library, a collection of netsuke, who loved to collect. The House came the most famous people of the time. He died a bitter at dacha in Gorki, just 2 years after experiencing the tragic death from lung disease his son Maxim. Tragically ended the life of the architect Shekhtel, at the end of his life he actually stayed on the street and died from the disease in poverty. Went abroad Rjabushinskie, creating the largest production in Russia. House just breathes history. It's alive.

  • Visited this lovely house in winter: its charm in the Centre of the quiet snowy Moscow. Friendly staff, attentive to the business and home. Unusual solutions inside: jellyfish, salamanders, snails ... Everything has its meaning. M. Gorky lovers like it too-preserved interiors, some things-collection conveys the atmosphere. You can buy publications that are sold at the entrance to understand, you can join the group, and workers engaged in a dialogue with pleasure! Perfect hikers in the historic center!
