Gorky Central Park of Culture and Leisure, Moscow

(2,000+ reviews on the web)
Nature / Park
Celebrated in countless books, movies, and songs, Gorky Central Park of Culture and Leisure draws visitors with its cafes, contemporary public art projects, food stands, and sports facilities. Once packed with theme park attractions, the park underwent a major renovation in 2011, losing most of its old-fashioned amusement rides to become an eco-friendly recreational zone. Designed by avant-garde architect Konstantin Melnikov and opened in 1928, the sprawling park now features an open-air theater and free Wi-Fi throughout its 120 hectares (300 acres). Nearly 40,000 visitors come every day to bike, walk, jog, and rollerblade. During the colder months, the park becomes a winter wonderland, its frozen ponds turning into giant skating rinks. Avoid traffic congestion by coming on foot or by public bus. See Gorky Central Park of Culture and Leisure and all Moscow has to offer by arranging your trip with our Moscow tourist route planner.

  • Very big park with tons of amusements and space for walk or riding your favourite bike, skate, etc. Also there are: ice-skating park at winter open air cinema at summer. A lot of events happening here almost every weekend. Better to visit during the week, to avoid weekend crowds.
  • One the most beautiful places I have visited in Moscow. I really enjoy every time I come here. You can loose the chance of check it by yourself.
  • Large park with all kinds of fun activities next to Moscow river. Perfect way to spend a Sunday
  • Beautiful area along the river. There's plenty of space for scaters, biking and children to play. Also some magnificent views of the city and the river
  • Beautiful decorations and design this winter. If you are a contemporary art lover then "Garage" museum is worth your visit. The exhibitions are temporary and change periodically. Currently one exhibit made of t-shirts can be seen right at the entrance, for free. A museum worker is ready to give some explanations about it too.
