Where to stay in Moscow

The capital of Russia and a huge metropolis, Moscow offers a plethora of different types of accommodations. Many renowned hotel chains are represented in the city, and some of its hotels rank among the world's most luxurious and expensive. Those traveling on a more modest budget can choose among the boutique or Soviet-era hotels. There are also numerous hostels and short-term rental apartments throughout the city. When choosing a place to stay, especially if you're only planning for a short visit, always bear in mind the size of Moscow. Staying too far from the center might mean that the precious time you could spend on sightseeing will be wasted in traffic and transport.

  • The monastery stands out in that it (partially) preserved necropolis of 16-19 centuries. I.e. historic Moscow cemetery for notables. In particular, there buried Uncle Pushkin (the poet was at the funeral), Smirnova-Rosset, Chaadaev and many other prominent people of the 18-19 centuries. There is a book La Cherejskogo "Pushkin and his Entourage". There lists a variety of curriculum vitae. With him is interesting to wander through the necropolis. One of the photos shows hosted State Cemetery in Soviet times. In 80-ies it was my favorite place in Moscow. Yes, the devastation-but felt "spirit of place", a special mood. Unfortunately then there began a big change. One of the Priors was fond of patriotic ideas. This is good-but I'm not sure why it was placed among the graves samples of military equipment (see photo). While rigidly confined to the days when it was possible to enter the monastery. Last year I visited the monastery in the midst of reconstruction. He actually shot to smithereens. The saddest thing is that this is the case the State has deteriorated sharply in the necropolis. As-t ...

  • Founded in 1591 as a defense of the armies of the Khan of Crimea. Joint architectural, that includes the convent, Church and cemetery.

  • Liked to walk to the monastery. Quiet Yes grace in the bustling city. The ancient necropolis, where you can see many famous names.
