I was recently in the Church of St. Martin and remembered this day-transparent and delicate as watercolor. Saw Church such a bright, lively and familiar, came and stayed in the service. Kowtow to all who restored the Church, helps, t and serves the Church. 25 years ago I was close by, alas, everything was in ruins, and I wanted to go find out. And here after so many years such a gift. -

This Temple stands out and distinguishes itself from other churches in the district as its architecture, and the title, you'd think that he'd rather Catholic. I advise you to read about him on Wikipedia. But be sure to visit it. Welcome all here, it is spacious and breathe it very easily. The rest will see themselves:)

The temple is named in honor of the Pope, Martin the Confessor stands between Solzhenitsin (d. 15) and Stanislavski (d. 2), but one of the targeted panels is "big Alekseevskaya, d. 15. The street on which the temple before the revolution have been named in honor of Alekseevskoj Sloboda, and after the revolution were renamed Communist. When the Soviet Union collapsed, it was decided to change their name again. Parishioners and priests had hoped that the Church would return its pre-revolutionary address beforehand and have established historic plate. But on a modern map of Moscow appeared quite another Street-Alexander Solzhenitsyn. Even 100 years ago, the temple was an architectural dominant Taganki. Voznesshiesja in the sky dome and his snow-white Bell Tower dominated over low merchant buildings. Now the temple is surrounded on all sides by high residential and administrative buildings, so many passers-by scurrying between cafes and shops, Taganskaya square, did not even suspect that lurking in the depths of the amazing beauty of the temple, with a rich history and invaluable historical relics of the iconostasis, made in the form of a triumphal arch; miraculous list with prototype Georgian icons of the mother of God; the burial shirt (srachica) and part of the relics of Matrona of Moscow. Sometimes at lunch time I visit here. Very impressive at first glance, architecture, but actually-very nice atmosphere, without pathos. Pleasantly amazed that for candles and scraps of money does not take you vznosish how many donations you think fit. You can sit on the bench and sit as long as you want-no one will say anything. Very comfortable place, why he came.

The exact time of the construction of the stone church at this location is unknown — presumably the year 1502, in memory of Vasily III's blessing to date great board what happened April 14 year 1502 — commemoration day of St. Martin the Confessor, Pope (d. 655). Ivan Snegiryov believes that the Church was built in the year 1492. The first archival reference to the building belongs to the year 1625. In 1780 year Moscow visited the Austrian Emperor Joseph II, had taken European educated Metropolitan Platon of Moscow. Bishop not only showed the kingly guest city but also has on it an indelible personal impression, so Joseph on the question of Catherine named Plato main Moscow landmark. Shortly after the departure of the Emperor next to an old church, the new building was laid. However, the construction of the temple was begun only in the year 1791, when money for its construction gave rich Moscow chaetorgovec (future mayor) Vasiliy Yakovlevich Zhigarev. The project was commissioned by the architect Kazakov Proposed. In the year 1792 Plato blessed the start of construction, and in 1806 year consecrated the throne of a new temple. In the Church of St. Martin the Confessor was the first letter of the divine service after leaving the French in Moscow in the year 1812. Emperor Alexander I seemed placed to the left and right of the Royal doors.

Where to stay in Moscow

The capital of Russia and a huge metropolis, Moscow offers a plethora of different types of accommodations. Many renowned hotel chains are represented in the city, and some of its hotels rank among the world's most luxurious and expensive. Those traveling on a more modest budget can choose among the boutique or Soviet-era hotels. There are also numerous hostels and short-term rental apartments throughout the city. When choosing a place to stay, especially if you're only planning for a short visit, always bear in mind the size of Moscow. Staying too far from the center might mean that the precious time you could spend on sightseeing will be wasted in traffic and transport.
