Bolotnaya ploshchad (Bog square), Moscow

(3.8/5 based on 55+ reviews on the web)
Bolotnaya Square is a square in the center of Moscow, in Yakimanka District, south of the Moscow Kremlin, between the Moskva River and the Vodootvodny Canal . The square is bounded by Bolotnaya Embankment of the canal to the south, by Serafimovicha Street and the House on the Embankment to the west, and by Bolotnaya Street to the north and to the east. The square had the name of Repin Square, commemorating Russian artist Ilya Repin, between 1962 and 1994. The square is built as a pedestrian open space.HistoryThe name of the area, Boloto (literally meaning the marsh), was known since the 14th century, when it was located in the meadows on the low bank of the Moscow River and frequently flooded. It belonged to the district of Zamoskvorechye, south of the river, and became an urban area much later than the left bank of the river, where the Kremlin is located. The square was frequently used for public executions, notably, the famous rebel Stepan Razin in 1671 and Yemelyan Pugachev, a leader of a peasant rebellion, who was executed there in 1775. It was also the last public execution in the square. The area was flooded on a regular basis until the 1780s, when the Vodootvodny Canal was dug to normalize the situation. In the 19th century, the area was built up by the addition houses and warehouses of local merchants, some of which are still intact.

  • Bolotka is a cult place! Before people were executed there, and now there's going to a progressive youth. As well as stands one of the most interesting monuments of human sin. Want to see how spit and rotate the fire? Or sfotkat'sja with trees, uveshennymi wedding castles? Or just enjoy a beautiful location? You there!

  • Love to go to Moscow on foot. If you get off the subway Tretyakov and move in the direction of the Tretyakov Gallery in Lavrushenskom lane in the public garden Shmeleva amazingly beautiful Fountain, which is called "inspiration". He was created for the 150 anniversary of the Tretyakov Gallery. Central Park is always a lot of people here sit down, just look at water jets that pour how-to on paintings. Here is sometimes going to an amazing personality. In the same region Pyatnitskaya outdoors is a wonderful Svjashhenomuchenika Temple architecture of Pope Clement in zamoskvorechye. The temple was built in the Baroque style-very beautiful and this summer Street was amazingly decorated, street cafes, shops, all so cozy and cute. Next Luzhkov bridge, nice place, too many shops where you can relax amongst the greenery and water. This bridge is also called Kisses bridge, here are 7 trees where newlyweds hang colorful castles in honor of his love and faithfulness. The Moscow river from the water beating floating fountains that create the track on both sides of the bridge on Luzhkov's 8 on each side. And finally we come to the Marsh area. In the old-old times it was a place of popular entertainment and fist fights, but also entertainment and punish criminals here in the flesh to death. By the way, here are executed and Stepan Razin and Yemelyan Pugachev. On the right side after entering the area with Luzhkov bridge monument to m. chemiakin Children-victims of adult vices ". Interestingly, without reading the labels themselves guessing these same vices. And if you go to the left of the square through the beautiful flower gardens, gazebo then you will be taken to another of the most beautiful fountains of Moscow, which is called Repinskij. I wonder what created and it was built in the year 1948 and Bowl it is from captured guns WWII and built it directly to prisoners of war by the Germans. He was musical, but noisy track beside him prevented the work system.

  • In this time period represents bolotnaya square pad for the Festival "Golden Autumn". In addition to the pavilions is worth noting standard monument Repin, custom monument "children-victims of adult vices," alley "on the fan" with trees hung wedding locks. In the center of the square is quite good "flower" part. In General, a small but quite cozy space for recreation. From here you can navigate bridge to Luzhkov Bypass channel and around the Tretyakov Gallery.
