#4 of 544 in Museums in Moscow
A collection of crown jewels makes Armoury Chamber one of Moscow's most popular tourist attractions. Part of the city's centrally located World Heritage Site, this museum houses 15,000 royal dresses, including those worn by the Empress Elizabeth during her coronation ceremonies. Other highlights include a pair of Peter the Great's boots, numerous royal carriages and sledges, and a lavish throne studded with over 800 diamonds. Be sure to visit the upstairs galleries, which contain a vast collection of silver artworks produced between the 12th and 17th centuries, as well as 10 world-famous Easter eggs made by celebrated jeweler Faberge. Ease your journey through Russian art history with an audio guide, available at the on-site ticket office. For travelers who use our world travel planner, Moscow holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Armoury Chamber and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • The Armory in Moscow is the heart of the museum city. The treasure trove of historical relics is rich in a variety of priceless exhibits: Panagia, Bible, Faberge, collection of carriages, representative gifts. There are closed opera concerts of classical music

  • Carriages, knights' lats, queen dresses and maid of honor. Thrones, 18th century utensils. Weapons. At least once in a lifetime everyone should visit. We've been a few times.

  • Visiting Moscow it is impossible not to visit the Kremlin in Moscow. Visiting the Kremlin in Moscow, it is impossible not to visit the Armory. Be prepared to spend all day.

  • Amazing place! I absolutely recommend it! It's well worth the price, aside from the first two halls which were a bit repetitive (religious stuff and daily life utilities) the place is awesome and very rich in history, you could probably spend hours here and not notice. The only Downside are the tourist groups just blocking the expositions not caring about the others, but that's just normal, I guess
  • I loved it! Great place to visit! So much to see. The museum isn't very big, but packed with artifacts: belonging to the Romanov dynasty, armour, gifts to tsars from foreign countries, dishes, jewelry, clothes ... Very interesting. Big advise try to have a tour guide, this makes it much more interesting!!
  • A MUST see, amazing collection of paintings and artifacts (from carriages, ceremonial objects, ceremonial horses objects, precious textiles, Russian gold and silverware, artistic tableware, and much more) which are dating back to 12 Century. Download the free ARMOURY CHAMBER app, and skip the audio guide at the museum, because 1) the app has way more information (4hours of information instead of the 1hr museum audio guide), 2) the audio guide info is not correct at some places. However the written info on the cards are correct. Taking pictures is prohibited, and you should leave your overcoat (and not your bag) at the clock room. I spent 3.5 hrs here, would have stayed more if I didn't have to rush to visit Kremlin as well.
  • A very great historical place. Dresses, chariots, furniture and many other items that used to belong to the great Russian emperors and kings are safely stored here. Highly recommended!
  • Leave yourself time to work your way through this place. So many things to look at! I didn't do a tour or self guided tour. I just went along and read the various placards to learn what something was. It is a fabulous collection of antiquities that take you back in time. Maybe I would have learned more details about some of the things had I been on a tour, but I'm more of a self explorer and I like going at my own pace.
