  • A great place for walking and exploring the historic heritage. Unfortunately badly looted. You can walk around the bastions and kazematam to climb the parapet (upper part). In the winter of Mr. Dubkovsky Cape walk 40 min on ice.

  • In the year 1910 was named Fort totleben in honor of outstanding Russian military engineer e. Totleben, who participated in the construction of Kronstadt fortress. Fort Totleben has the appearance of a letter "c" by FAS to the West. Another name for Fort-Pervomaisk. This, it was renamed after the October revolution. We were on an excursion in Kronstadt and went on a tour of the forts and told us this information ... This Fort on artificially bulk island. Are there any interesting: climb the ruins show the Casemates, powder cellars and warehouses. Sorry, time flew by quickly. Just dress warmly, it is very windy out there.

  • This is the third time visited Fort Totleben. And all on foot, in winter on ice. Dubki Park Road with Sestroretsk 5 km from the coast up to the Fort. And go approximately 1-1.5 hours. This time it was with my daughter 7 years. Step was walking. Unforgettable! A real adventure! Unlike the available forts, this has survived better, you can be like on the inside, not izgazhen and not ispisan. 600 meters in length. Highly recommend, but should examine the ice situation and not take any chances. Choose a sunny frosty day and forward.

Where to stay in St. Petersburg

For luxury hotels with a price tag to match, you can't beat the city's historical heart--Palace Square--and Nevsky Prospekt, the main avenue that connects the square to the Neva River. The area around St. Isaac's Cathedral, at the west end of Nevsky Prospekt, also offers a great selection of luxury and mid-range options. If you want to see the other side of the city, consider staying on Vasilyevsky Island, at the mouth of the river. Increased competition means that St. Petersburg now offers a wide range of inexpensive but funky hostels scattered throughout the city.
