Stolby National Park, Krasnoyarsk

Must see · National Park · Nature / Park
Hike into Stolby National Park to view the giant rock formations, the result of pulsating magma forced up millions of years ago from deep below the earth's surface. The formations of the Eastern Sayan Mountains are called Stolby, Russian for "pillars," and this is what they resemble. Visit the small fortress at the junction of the Kacha and Yenisei Rivers, built by Russian kozaks who discovered the geological wonders in 1624. You can hire a guide to ensure you see all of the pillars during your visit. Plan my Krasnoyarsk trip by asking Inspirock to come up with tips and suggestions.
