Paraskeva Pyatnitsa Chapel, Krasnoyarsk

4.8
#1 of 98 in Historic Sites in Siberian District
Perched on the top of a hill, Paraskeva Pyatnitsa Chapel offers views of the city. Notice the padlocks on the fence of the observation deck, placed by wedding couples as a declaration of their love for each other. The small, octagonal, brick chapel in Old Russian style replaced a decaying wooden one in 1855. Look for a granite memorial plaque on the east front of the building commemorating the day in 1887 when Russian scientist and radio inventor Aleksander Popov observed the solar eclipse from the chapel. • A fantastic view of Krasnoyarsk and a lovely chapel. A must for visitors to this city.
  • One of the three attractions in Krasnoyarsk, drawn on the desjatirubljovoj banknote. Be sure to visit and photograph with Bill. A beautiful view of the city at night. Monument of architecture. Minus! Inside the temple, and the larjok.

  • Great item from the attractions of Krasnoyarsk paving walk from Dubenskomu, or from the city centre, climbing the stairs to the Chapel Hill. And climbing the stairs can and see why Krasnoyarsk called Krasnoyarsk.

Where to stay in Krasnoyarsk

One of the rare true urban centers in Siberia, Krasnoyarsk is a great base for outdoor expeditions and an important stop on the Trans-Siberian route. The Yenisey River flows through the heart of the city, where you'll find many of its best-known hotels, as well as many smaller pensions and bed and breakfasts. You can also find a good selection of accommodations in other areas of the city. The style of lodgings ranges from luxury and designer boutique hotels to accommodations that have changed little since Soviet times. Shoestring travelers have a number of hostels and apartments to choose from.
