Watch the footage of Tsar Nicholas II and the Romanov family visiting Kostroma in 1913 on a large screen at the entrance. The focal point of the monastery is the Trinity Cathedral, which was built by Tsar Boris Godunov in 1590. It features more than 80 frescoes by a school of 17th-century Kostroma painters. • The monastery is very impressive with its beauty and grandeur. Very much like the outside Pskov-Pechersk Lavra. Winter landscape very brilliant against the backdrop of the ancient monastery. Required to attend if you came visit to Kostroma, will not regret. A small park next to the monastery from the 30-minute trees and on each birdhouse, summer bird probably give decent gigs. With parking near the monastery in rush hour problem. To take a tour of the monastery you need to call and enroll in advance. If you drive around the monastery, you will reach to the Museum of wooden architecture Kostromskaya Sloboda.

  • Visited in January frosts of the year 2017. Since not attended in an organized group in the pilgrimage Department made a tour for ridiculous money on 47.1 USD per person. However, most guides to this point or were frostbitten in the "output", so I had to wait for half an hour. During this time we managed to visit the monastery Cafe, warm up and eat. On the input control that women wore aprons-skirts. Entrance fee in museums and churches on the same ticket, which put a mark on the visit. Monastar' wonderful renovated press that our tour was so short (we were able to pay only 50 minutes) and skomkana. Not told nor about the importance of this place in the formation of the Russian Empire, of the Romanov Dynasty, nor about the stages of restoration. We recommend a visit to this place in spring-summer, with prior booking of a good guide.

  • Stunning set! It is better to visit museums, to the icon of the mother of God approached individually. And don't miss the lovely view of the monastery from the other Bank of the river.
