Königsberg Cathedral, Kaliningrad

(4.8/5 based on 1,300+ reviews on the web)
Pay your respects to a famous German philosopher and admire an excellent example of brick Gothic architectural style at Königsberg Cathedral. Built in 1933 while the city was under German rule as the capital of East Prussia, the structure showcases murals, wooden carvings, and monuments from different artistic movements over several centuries. Enter to see a number of medieval, Renaissance, and late Gothic works of art, as well as the tomb of famous philosopher Immanuel Kant. Although the church was damaged during World War II, it was restored in the 1990s. • The largest organ in the world and an unforgettable Museum of the great Kant. We recommend that you attend a concert of organ music, then really enjoy this place.

  • Cathedral-this dominant in Kaliningrad, brick Gothic, in fact-new. The largest organ in Europe, the tomb of Kant and his Museum. The purpose of the visit was the one-view outside, see the tomb of Kant and attend a concert of organ music. Always in Europe attend such concerts in cathedrals-very like them. Here is how it happened on the first two counts, organ concert did not like. The concert happens twice a day-time-don't remember exactly-12 and 2:00 pm (it seems), but we went for an evening concert. Performed organ music star Anastasia Sidelnikova Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, and even Tchaikovsky. I did not like-repertoire has been picked up by strange, not revealed all the beauty of the game of the authority, its deep sounds, the feeling that the artist selected works from those that like her, they might be complex and virtuosity of performance, but I do not understand, write only about their feelings. Tchaikovsky on body-probably one time cost to hear and immediately forget. Acoustics are not the best. Probably better to go to the day.
