Konigsberg Cathedral, Kaliningrad

4.7
#1 of 14 in Historic Sites in Kaliningrad
Pay your respects to a famous German philosopher and admire an excellent example of brick Gothic architectural style at Konigsberg Cathedral. Built in 1933 while the city was under German rule as the capital of East Prussia, the structure showcases murals, wooden carvings, and monuments from different artistic movements over several centuries. Enter to see a number of medieval, Renaissance, and late Gothic works of art, as well as the tomb of famous philosopher Immanuel Kant. Although the church was damaged during World War II, it was restored in the 1990s. • The Cathedral itself is not particularly interesting. But get there because that is where you can see the very full exposure on Kant, whose home has been destroyed.

  • Cathedral exterior beautiful and interesting in the wall behind the tomb of Kant. Inside is the organ Hall, but it's better to listen to organ concert in the Church of the Holy family. Staff not very friendly.

  • Goal number 1 our visit in Kaliningrad. Organ concert tickets have been bought in advance (although honestly-head ill very quickly, and I personally have sat with great difficulty-into a living body to listen and listen to it in writing-different things). Immediately the Council-it is not necessary to sit close to the body, better either take place closer to the Middle, or away from it-more likely not oglohnut). Prior to the concert-tour of the organnomu Hall. According to the guide-only with 01.08.2017 year "mere mortals" began to zaaltarnoe the space-and this is the main moment of the tour for my taste. There's also a Museum and Tomb of Kant. In the Museum we have not got-a headache after body. Grave of Miss hard-enough only around the Cathedral. Advertising recap-don't believe the people that sell magnets on the approaches to the island of Kant, that they have cheaper-go to church!) To visit-definitely!

  • Looks really interesting. German architecture is very exciting! But I must warn you that the employees of the building are not "too polite".
  • Wonderful place
  • East prussia is German!
  • I d like to visit this city full of history.Greetings from Italy
  • Here he's sleeping Immanuel Kant. The magic of a Russian city more at West than Warsaw, and more at South than København.
