Curonian Spit, Kaliningrad

4.8
For a chance to walk through the desert, swim in the sea, and cycle through the forest in a single day, head to Curonian Spit, a World Heritage Site. Formed thousands of years ago, this 98 km (60 mi) long sandspit separates a narrow lagoon from the Baltic Sea. Shared by Russia and Lithuania, the curving stretch of sand varies in width from a minimum of 400 m (1,300 ft) to almost 4 km (2.5 mi). Home to some of the most rapidly moving dunes in Europe, the spit combines sand ridges with wetlands, meadows, and tree groves. To explore the entire spit quickly and comfortably, drive the single paved road from Zelenogradsk in the south to Smiltyne in the north. I was lucky enough to visit the Curonian spit in July-August 2017 onwards on both sides, that is, in July, I visited classmate have in Klaipeda, and in August was with the band for tours in Kaliningrad! Baltic wind all sensed even at the airport! Soft sand, pine thickets ... ornithological station, even cold seawater-excellent mood! Cozy small Lithuanian Nida and Juodkrante, our Svetlogors-nice beach towns! I finally went here! Spit from both parties smotritsja equally-interesting!

Place of indescribable beauty. Endless white sand beaches, clean sea wave smell playful weary Sun needles and fresh sea breeze. For the sake of this worth to come here in any way, no matter what. And special attention should be paid to the negative experience of living on a spit. Buses: 596 Svetlogorsk runs 4 times daily, approximately 2 Zelenogradsk 210 times, and 593 on Kaliningrad-4 times. Knowing the schedule, it is easy to plan trips to the so-called tourist attractions. Because your car will have to pay for each entry in the Spit. We have managed to live in p. MARINE three days. There's the most quiet and beautiful place, rich in the air, singing sands. Accommodation and food is not very good, and very expensive, but there is no choice. Most civilized settlement on the Spit-Rybachy. In the forest it is better not to look, there's chaos and devastation. Visited the Museum of natural history (it's ennobled forest plot with two mediocre museums, access to the Lake and paid entrance). Ate in terrible Café-dirty, normal stolovka, canned soup is called Imperial fish soup and more expensive 200 p. Visited the ornithological station, the truth is, we never took because the tour does not recall and pay 900 p 2 didn't want despite the hints. Understand that hard work and not, but seems to work as expected, employees do not want to. Therefore, I recommend to watch only dune Efa and trees Dancing in the forest, and the rest of the time for a walk on the wild beaches and forest p. Marine and Forest. Do not forget about antikleschevuyu processing, and do not be afraid of snakes-medjanok.

It is a place that is well worth a visit if you are in Kaliningrad or area. Nature and landscape are unique, there are museums near the sea and a lot of interesting organize within the reserve (and this is it). There is a handy app for smartphones on the Curonian spit, where marked all the key places described, very convenient and user-friendly manner. But. .. very big but. You can only go on your transport. If you are a pedestrian and even get on the bus (and it is very difficult to do)-all the places you will go around the square, there's not great there. Infrastructure there poorly developed or not developed at all. A guided tour of the city too, don't settle, I heard several of them while they were there, and how filing did not stand up to scrutiny.
