Visit one the most important religious centers in Russia at Ivolginsk Datsan (Buddhist Monastery), home of the country's top Buddhist leaders. Constructed in 1945, the building is relatively modern, but with the look and feel of a traditional Buddhist monastery. Explore the complex and see its collection of regional artwork, artifacts, manuscripts, and other cultural items important to the Buryat people. There are also many prayer flags and religious decorations scattered around the yard. Don't miss one of the temple's main features: the preserved body of the 12th Khambo Lama, still sitting upright in prayer. • Center of Russian Buddhist. Interesting & Peaceful place. It's only 30 km from Ulan Ude. If you don't have time you can get taxi to there. Cost is around 1700 Rubl.
  • A year ago, first heard about this complex, Ivolginskogo temples, monks came to Ekaterinburg (pul′sodiagnostika, astrology, etc.). Then I read more, but did not think that would surprise visit these places. Glad that circumstances were so that led me to the Ivolginsk datsan. Ivolginsky datsan is a complex of temples, Museum, a small village of residences for students and Lam + outbuildings. Inside the fenced area laid track with molil′nymi drums-good to walk on sacred circle, composed of many reels with hieroglyphs and handles that you want to twist it clockwise. As it is written: "it cleans and charms. And after this rite of passage to visit temples. One is on the left hand (slightly off), if you look at the main entrance of the temple. It is the body of the famous imperishable Lama Itygelova (not dead, but do not live in the compulsive gambler's llamas, State of suspended animation, its body so far with temperatures like in living). Around the main temple has a ritual: with closed eyes, stretching her hand forward, touch the sacred stone-your cherished wishes come true. Not all turned out walk properly ... The temples are usually entry inside through the left door and exit through the right (going clockwise). Very colorful funeral buildings, both outside and inside. Go monks in bardovyh clothes, kindly smiling-learned that work and have approximately 10 years. Here, everything was dignified and beautiful feel spiritual power and people's faith. While there, and not being a Buddhist, we got a huge energy boost. As if grace has descended from heaven. P.s. Palace famous Hambo Lama Ètigèlova-visit to receive blessings. Unfortunately, the Ètigèlova we could not see: after questioning, approval-we come to duganu, where the body and came across a 1.5 hour lunch break-wait.

  • If you arrive early, you will be greeted by a pack of dogs of varying degrees of coarseness that will be friendly to extort something to eat and try to play with you. From the datsan is an ambivalent impression. On the one hand, certainly cultural and religious center of the Republic of Buryatia, on the other hand, range of trash and commerce, which I haven't seen in such volume in either country about Buddhist temples.
