(4.4/5 based on 150+ reviews on the web)
Visit one the most important religious centers in Russia at Ivolginsk Datsan (Buddhist Monastery), home of the country's top Buddhist leaders. Constructed in 1945, the building is relatively modern, but with the look and feel of a traditional Buddhist monastery. Explore the complex and see its collection of regional artwork, artifacts, manuscripts, and other cultural items important to the Buryat people. There are also many prayer flags and religious decorations scattered around the yard. Don't miss one of the temple's main features: the preserved body of the 12th Khambo Lama, still sitting upright in prayer. • I first visited the Ivolginsk datsan. Came with a friend-it was here before. In two buses with a transfer from Ulan-Ude arrived in an hour. Buses run frequently. Ivolga datsan is a number of temples of different sizes on the same territory. Around the perimeter of the stand here drums that believers twist, bypassing the whole territory. Recently there have opened a gallery of art of the peoples of Asia, where paintings and sculptures of the Buryat masters. In the souvenir shops near temples I saw singing bowl is filled with characters that rings when they touch a wooden stick. Bowls cast from any alloys which give amazing sound. The trip impressed. I advise you to go)
