130 Kvartal, Irkutsk

4.1
#1 of 106 in Things to do in Irkutsk
Pop into the boutique shops, cafes, bars, and souvenir shops, all housed in traditional Irkutsk wooden houses, lining 130 Kvartal. Some of the wooden buildings have been transported from other locations throughout the county, and others were constructed to blend in with the original structures in the area. Guarding the entrance to the area is a monster bronze babr, the mythical beast featured on the Irkutsk municipal coat of arms. Be sure to take advantage of the outdoor seating to capture a view of the nearby river. Very interesting quarter. Beautiful buildings. Many interesting museums, there is even a planetarium. As well as trampoline, boats, virtual reality glasses. And plenty of cafes and shops for every taste. (Bought patterned gloves and ate a very beautiful and delicious Donuts) and visited scientific shows at the beginning of the quarter. After 130 quarter is a fashionable quarter.

The pedestrian quarter with a bunch of cafes and other nice places. House restored (it is said that the newly built) in the old style-Irkutsk of logs, with trims, very beautiful. Walked back and forth. It is a pity that only one street and move left/right step, you find yourself among these same houses but not restored, and pokosivshihsja on Windows and ingrown. But too cute. In General, I advise.

Where to stay in Irkutsk

A famous stop on the Trans-Siberian railway, historically rich Irkutsk serves as a perfect base for trips to Lake Baikal. With its steadily increasing popularity among tourists, the city offers a good selection of places to stay. The center of the city has the highest concentration of luxury and boutique hotels, but you can also find quite a few in other neighborhoods. Numerous bed and breakfasts and plenty of hostels offer a good alternative to hotels. Likewise, renting a fully furnished apartment is another popular option. Note that the number of available apartments significantly increases during the summer season, when most tourists visit the city.
