130 Kvartal, Irkutsk

4.4
Pop into the boutique shops, cafes, bars, and souvenir shops, all housed in traditional Irkutsk wooden houses, lining 130 Kvartal. Some of the wooden buildings have been transported from other locations throughout the county, and others were constructed to blend in with the original structures in the area. Guarding the entrance to the area is a monster bronze babr, the mythical beast featured on the Irkutsk municipal coat of arms. Be sure to take advantage of the outdoor seating to capture a view of the nearby river. • A good place to visit. A lot of good places to eat, shopping for souvenirs or just walking. Recommend.

  • The distance is great, but old fashioned buildings confused most restaurants, bars and cafes. If you don't have time, don't need to go looking for the venture. A shopping mall at the end of the street, but what specifically is smaller in scale but no thing, see Mart stuff. What's more was better public transportation.

  • A wonderful combination of old town architecture of the 19th century and modern human needs: shops, restaurants, bars, souvenir shops and a Museum, a large shopping center. A pleasant place for a stroll.

  • I didn't see much interesting on the street. There's a series of restaurants and stores that stretch maybe two blocks. The statue of the mythical beaver-tiger at the north end is probably the most interesting part.
  • Pedestrianised Area with selection of restaurants and bars and run of the mill souvenir shops. They tout it as having examples of the original style of wooden architecture of the area but if you stroll atound the town along the "green line" you'll see plenty of the real houses. There is a modern shopping centre at the end of the strip. I only strolled through it during a quiet day in April, apart from the cool statue of Irkutsk's "mascot" at the beginning of the strip i cant recommend much else. There's probably more of a buzz about this place on weekend nights or during tourist high season. When the bars etc. are busy.
  • Good location, many shops and cafes. The view from here. Always a lot of people and foreigners have with whom to meet and chat 😊

Where to stay in Irkutsk

A famous stop on the Trans-Siberian railway, historically rich Irkutsk serves as a perfect base for trips to Lake Baikal. With its steadily increasing popularity among tourists, the city offers a good selection of places to stay. The center of the city has the highest concentration of luxury and boutique hotels, but you can also find quite a few in other neighborhoods. Numerous bed and breakfasts and plenty of hostels offer a good alternative to hotels. Likewise, renting a fully furnished apartment is another popular option. Note that the number of available apartments significantly increases during the summer season, when most tourists visit the city.
