  • Good lock status. But that's only if you compare with other castles in Kaliningrad region. In General, the kind of depressing. In need of urgent restoration. Visiting the territory. Jaunty young man requested a us tour (500 rubles from 3 people), said that in the Castle were during the Soviet era communal apartments, added a couple of facts from Wikipedia and showed the fireplace (more inside show nothing, not counting exhibitions of photographs, apparently, some schoolchildren, judging by the quality). And here's stables are privately owned and used for its intended purpose, and therefore are in order, but to get there, of course, is impossible.

  • Sad thoughts..! Lack of funds for restoration work only exacerbates the impression when visiting the Castle .... We lose the Poles that are so well established restoration of castles and, consequently, the crowds of tourists ...!

  • In the castle of Georgenburg we could hit immediately, but following okazaniâm Yandex-maps, first rested against the gates of the stud farm, which is preserved from the last owners of the Castle. In the castle we had a more adequate than a group of enthusiasts in Insterburge. The Guide conducted us on all premises of the Castle, told what was where. Told that in the post-war period the castle was used, under the accommodation worker-peasant people which conveys insights here in the post-war period. History of the Castle starts with 14 centuries, which was built to protect the northern borders, conquered by the Teutonic order in the 13 century. After the reformation of the Teutonic Knights in 16 century, the castle was a possession of the State of the first Duke of Prussia, who often visited. In the second half of the 18 century the new owners of the Castle started to breed horses. Georgenburg became a Center for trakehner breed horses for the Royal departure. From the top floor of the Castle offer a wonderful view of the surrounding area and preserved to our days and acting Stud. Otblagodariv Guide for interesting story charitable contribution, agreed that the story and the castle of Georgenburg impressed us more impressed than Insterburg. The Guide has not complained about the heavy share of enthusiasts, and the amount of appreciation remained at our sole discretion. Although, of course, very sad that such a historical monument conveyed the ROC and the State is not engaged in its restoration and preservation.
