(4.9/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web)
Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin features one of the most elegant exteriors in Russian sacral architecture. A symbol of medieval Russia, this World Heritage site was built on a man-made hill in approximatley 1165. Prince Andrei Bogolyubsky commissioned the church to celebrate the victory over the Bulgarians and to commemorate his son's death in the battle. Walk the stone-paved road through the meadow to approach the church. Admire the 12th-century stone carvings on the exterior walls. If you visit in the spring, the church will appear as if hovering on water because the area floods. • In Bogolyubovo near Vladimir. From the railroad bridge to go 15 minutes. Open until 17 0000. Beauty!

  • Learning about 5-6 grade, I went to art school. There we were taught to draw. One of the assignments was to draw a little modest cerkvushechku-the intercession on the NERL. We drew it, looking at the various pictures. And even then she just charmed me with its beauty, simplicity and harmony. As a child I dreamed of seeing her own eyes. And that's going to suzdal, passing near Vladimir on the highway, I see index "of the Church of the intercession on the NERL. And suddenly my bright memories surfaced about 30 years old. And of course I couldn't drive past. Drive to the Church cannot. A car left near the railway station, and then on foot. And it was fabulous. Until you go to it on the cobblestone walkway, you don't drive with her eyes. And the closer you come up to her, the more she fascinates you. Visit her best early in the morning, yet there has not roam the crowds. Be sure to take pictures from different angles.

  • My husband and I were in the frosty winter day, -25, wanted to take sledge from Bogolyubov, but have not found, went on foot and have not regretted. 20 minutes went by, the track has been snow, had to go very gently. But the impression received from the temple and the surrounding nature with outweighed this inconvenience. It is winter on the white field and on the background of the sky, azure in the temple looks great!
